Advice on lanersbach/hinterlux Austria

Post by Henry at Apex » Monday 27 December 2010, 14:35

Hello everyone. I am riding in europe for the first time soon and would appreciate some advice. I am headed to Lanersbach in a couple of weeks. Any advice on snowboarding there? Is it well groomed and friendly for carving? I can only bring one board so it is either a Kessler gs 180 or Kessler bx 168 with soft boots. Which would you choose.

you can always rent soft gear....so bring your hardboot setup and ride early in the morning!

Silber is right. No question, choose your hardboot setup.

I will be there in three weeks for the third time.
Eggalm is a small resort with nice slopes and normally not crowded.
On the Penken above Mayrhofen you will find many red and black carving slopes. More crowded.
If it´s icy, choose the south faced slopes! Especially in direction of Finkenberg.
If not, you choose the other ones.
My favourite area is the glacier in Hintertux. It´s only 20 minutes by ski bus.
Not the steepest slopes, but normally empty and fantastic for carving.
Try the Kaserer slopes. A bit tricky to get there, very cold, no chair lift, but one of the best slopes I know.

Okay, I will bring the hard boots. I am also thinking of going to Bad Gastein for the World Cup race on Jan. 9. Worth it? I'm having trouble finding a hotel room there. Is it a very crowded resort?

Not strange it's crowded when the WC is there
