Are you sure you have adjusted the ACSS correctly, Nextcarve? Screw the upper screw down a bit to limit overbending!

The accident you described is exactly the sort of problem I occasionally had when riding through fresh moguls before I got the ACSS. Without the ACSS, I always left the forward lean mechanism of my boots open, in order to get enough freedom of movement.

General advice: When riding in soft heavy snow I always make sure to
a) ride very slowly, and
b) keep my knees bent throughout the whole turn

Safe riding!

nextcarve wrote:After I received my ACSS, I put it on my Deeluxe 325. Next day I went on the slope to try it out. The conditions were a mixture of soft and hard snow.
And it came like it had to come. In a soft part my snowboard just dug into the snow and was stopped abruptly by a hard spot. I was just catapulted to the front.

Unfortunately the ACSS has no limit for overbending. My ankle joint was compressed hard and my calf was overstretched to the limit.

I hurt myself very badly!

I don't want to give ACSS and its builder a bad reputation, but it has a serious safety problem and you risk to get injured.
Perhaps after my feedback abrax thinks of changing the design in a way ACSS limits dangerous overstretching.

After this accident the season 2013/14 has ended for me, because I will not recover fast enough :(
Nextcarve -> I AM TERRIBLY SORRY. Hope your ankle will be totally OK in no time and that you will not think any bad to the system.

Please read this carefully:

Pokkis,
Now I can see why You are ok with Your BTS -> it is not the original system!
The back lean is now possible, but You have very short back spring which IMHO is too short to effectively fight with moguls. Anyway, removing the lower nut would let it move even more. The question is if You really need it. Nice work!
Anyway the back lean in ACSS can be much bigger, restricted finally by the shells touching each other.
This kind of back lean is too big, and the edge does not grip well, so finally there is a nut to regulate the maximum back lean. This is why I propose the lower nut to be about 7 mm raised.
The front lean is restricted by the buckle touching the shell, but in some cases leaning this much would cause problems with ones achillee, so again it can be regulated by the upper nut. In the position mentioned above it should be safe, but please be sure to check it twice! In some fatal cases this should not lean foreward too much!
It's not the system's fault -> the ACSS can be even blocked in a position. When you screw the upper nut totally down and the lower nut totally up, there should be no possibility to move foreward or backward. But this is of corse not the system's goal.

Nextcarve -> I am pretty sure that somewhere there I have written that I take no responsibility for what happens because one uses the system. The point was to give all a great tool to improve their skills and this fatal scenario which has happened is telling us that we should really check the things twice. I will write it once more in the first post now and I wish you cure your ankle very fast!

The ACSS sales:

As I have written, BIG changes here.
I am going to be dad in 6 months! Not yet Sasha ;)
But: I've dealt with all the company problems resulting in my employees who were retarded, reorganisation etc.
I've even taken a job in another company. Finally -> i mean FINALLY things are better now and I can concentrate on snowboard.

So: YES I STILL SELL ACSS.
5 sets are ready to be sold. I need to check the e-mails and reply to you who are still waiting for the replies e-mail after e-mail.
I will produce more sets this week.
No color this year - sorry, too much happens at the moment.
Different springs colors still available.

Guys - THANK YOU for your understanding and patience...

Hello Carvers!

It's 1st of December and I still did not announce that I am ready with the ACSS sales this year.
You have to know that this year is very special for me and my family, because a new carver was born on 23rd of September :-)

His name is Tomek, and he is totally responsible for that terrible delay.

For all of you who want to buy ACSS system:

I have collected all parts, especially all springs which has been shipped last week. Right now we have our first extremecarving course in Livigno and we will be back on 8th of December.

Right after I will be back I will produce the ACSS sets for this winter.
So yes, they will be finally available in standard aluminum color, 55 euro for a pair. I'm really sorry that you still have to wait.

Hello Abrax,

I am also interested in purchasing two Acss sets with heavier springs, plus an additional softer spring set. However, I would like to receive them before 18 December next, because afterwards I will be heading for the Alps. Please let me know how you go about this.
Cheers
