New UPZ RC10 ok fpr EC?

Post by mandrezak » Sunday 19 December 2010, 20:44

Hi,

I'm 185cm, 85 kg and just starting to get the hang of EC. I'm looking for a new boot, my old Burton's (don't even know the name anymore, they are completely blue) give up.
I've been looking around and found the UPZ RC 10, would it be ok with a soft (red) tongue and in walk mode? Any experience? What do you think?
I've been looking for a north wave for the last year, but none came up in my size. what's the second best choice?

Thx

Markus

Yes UPZ would be better with the red tongue. but the spring system has a very limited stroke , and it's better to change it.

Do you have some pictures of modification?

I really cant't find anything about improving spring system on RC10's...

Do owners of rc10's ride them in "walk" mode?

thanx

I was sceptical about using "only" M4. But in the end, it is wery solid and compact. On the inside od a boot there is a "hole/dent", I put inside of it 19x20x4 milimeter steel plate to conect both screws together.

I think the plastic would rip off before screws will break... But we will see what happens on the snow

This looks like an excellent upgrade. ls it difficult to install? Where does one buy the parts?

l have the red tongues on my boots. Much softer than the black ones.

Flywalker : it's not difficult to install, but you have to drill 3 holes : 2 for the bracket, and one for bottom part.

Before selling the system, I must produce some bottom parts to adapt the system (initially designed for Head boots) to UPZ boots.

But after the modification what about forward flex?
I think that the 3rd and 4th buckle will crush each other during a ride.
I would prefer rx8 or atb

Thanks all,

So I think i'm going for this shoe with Arnaud's mod :) I guess the rest of the info is somewhere here in the info?

Now I just need to find a teacher close by to get rid of some counter rotation and to get some guts to throw myself down in the snow a little more ;)

All the best

Markus

You can actualy move 3rd and 4th buckle apart by turning both canting settlings on the boot to +2.
What you get is no canting (0deg) and more space between 3rd and 4th buckle.
You can see how to do this on my 1st picture and also on the picture Arnould posted...

I am no pro, but in my opinion this gives you enough forward flex...
