Hi all you carvers,
I was wondering if some of you also experience bending of your binding bails. At my back foot binding, the toe and heel bails are pretty much bent. I use CATEK bindings (black World Cup edition) and a few days after putting new bails on the binding they were bent already. There is (too much) free space between bail and boot on both parts, so I guess this is a reason that they tend to bend. Unfortunately they can also break, which happened twice on the toe bail of my back foot binding.
Any other experiences/opinions/solutions on this?
Greetz,
Erwin

Guys,
I'm glad that this binding issue has come up. I'm just about to change equipment, from Silberpfeil 172 + Burton Race to Swoard + dunno what binding.
Firstly, I'd like to state that I never had serious problems with my Burton Race (2 seasons old). I have to admit, that if it is a bit loose, then it tends to open at extreme big pressures (eg. hitting a bump, etc), so you have to set it really tight, which is not easy as there are pre-made holes for the screws, thus you can only set it to discrete settings (not continuous).
I've heard stories and read test about breaking Burton Race. Last year I was also 100 kg, now around 90 and never had a problem like that. On the other hand I believe that Burton Race has a too large footprint, so it does not let the board bend as it should at the touching places. Hence I'm about to change.
My ideas were Catek Olympic, Bomber TD2 and Duretskis Phiokka PH1. I would be glad to read your recommendations, price/value judgments. I will also add a Poll to Forum/Misc., let's see what the results will be.
Kindest,
István

Istvan,
i have a pair of Burton Race plates and tried to ride them on my new Swoard 175 H. I have almost 100kg and i am 193cm tall. I had lots of Problems with the Burton race bindings on the Swoard because i went of the binding several times, with one feet and with 2 feets when i put a lot of pressure on the backside or fronside edge. This experience was terrible and i am glad i didn´t brake something on my body. After that i purchased the TD2 standard and rode them last WE for 2 days in Zinal. My experience with TD2 is positive and i think this i a great binding. For my weight the biding is not too stiff and the dampening is good.
Cheers
