New cablecars and chairlifts for 2010/2011 ?

Post by Schneewurm » Monday 4 October 2010, 21:06

Switzerland:
- Lenzerheide: Rothorn section 1: new gondola from Canols 1488 m (parking area) up to alp Scharmoin 1902 m (Cablecar of Rothorn section 2 ends at 2861 m)
Gondolas take 8 persons each. Speed: 6m/sec. It takes now less than 5 minutes for the 414 meters of high.

Switzerland:
A half Year ago, I talked to the marketing-girls of Davos-Klosters Mountains.
Beside the explanation of all the new bike-trails (*), there are following news:

- Davos-Parsenn: new cableway from Höhenweg to Weissfluhjoch.
The 2nd section, build 1932 was in progress to be rebuild this summer. Rails are now on 100 cm width (old ones 80 cm). 2 new panoramic-roof waggons for 110 persons each.

For carvers they visited once there the Carving Session from PureBoarding, my photo shows the situation. From the middle station Höhenweg (WCS test-base) is a additional chairlift to the Weissfluhjoch, where a bridge join to the session slope (blue slope, right side of cableway).
Below the WCS test-base, there was also one slope (black one). A slope which all people like to ride downwards to the valley in common around lift closing time, but not during the day.

- Davos Jackobshorn: new 4-seat chairlift Ischalp-Brämabüel (now skilift like reportet here, watch 3. picture. 550 m elevation on 1550 meters = 5% steeper in average than e.g. similar well known carving areas like Katschberg. Even this slope No.1 at Davos Jakobshorn will remain red outside of the moguls. Just because it's not realy steep or difficult to ride.

Building will be finished before this winter. Chairlift will be ready for 2011/12. For to be full dutch compatible, they prepare a new slope in addition to slope No. 1 on the top / right side of the chairlift. Just to avoid to stress people by the black steeper moguls-slope.

- Davos Pischa: All the area: End of operation after winter 2013/2014! (Expiration dates of lifts)

(* with the help of cablecars 8 long and different downhills with totaly 9'710 m of downhill-biking can now be done during one day. Next Summer there will be more than 10'000 m ! http://www.bahnentour.ch/ )

World's first full Solar-Powered skilift

Well as we know it all, all the shiny high-power-resorts are in progress to build new heavy chairlifts with high energie-consumption. Huge arrays of snow-makers runs then over night, driven by band-electricity of coal-powerstations. They are blowing everyday tons of dark-brown CO²-pollution to the athmosphere. The out of this, all-white artifical slopes, tempt tourists to travel long distances by off-roaders and sportscars on high-ways to that resorts.

But - there is also an alternative way for to get fun on snow.

Operators of sweet little Tenna skilift, located deep in the Swiss mountains of Safiental, want to step some decades ahead. They are located on the sunny side and want now to go to the most available sunny side of wintersports.

See Tenna on my picture 1. For to take an eye, mountains on the background reach from the valley bottom 600 meters up to the summits 3250 meters. These mountains are from UNESCO World Heritage - Swiss Tectonic Arena Sardona

Tenna skilift company want renewing their lift next summer. The lift was builded 1970 from Staedeli, serving 400 skiers/hour.
On Dezember 2011 people will be able to glide upwards by 100 % pure Solar power only. Skilift will be coverd by many movable Solar Panels (following the sun / switched to the vertical if there is snowfall). see http://www.solarskilift.ch/
Skipass is now at: 1 day SFr. 20.- (Euro 14.50) / skipass for riding at night: SFr. 5.- (Euro 3.70). Privat snowboard lessons are at SFr. 25.- the hour! Just one other nice-price area of Switzerland.

For to show people, how this kind of powering-up by Solar-energy works well, there is an life-view example on the valley where once Heidi was alive.
This installation is a cooperation between Solar Wings Liechtenstein, Flumroc Flums/Switzerland and BMF Flums/Switzerland. BMF , Bartholet is a constuctor of amazing public transportation systems, like for wintersport, amusement parks and so on.

As an authentic snowboarder I like sometimes to be moved uphill by energie saving chairlifts, like e.g. on picture 2. So there is the remaining hope such type of chairlifts will run once by Solarpower too. That could mean taking the awfull decision to choose between two paradises, the one on trackless powdersnow, or the otherone on trackless groomed slopes, will even become more fun.
