New UPZ ATB

Post by crack676 » Saturday 6 March 2010, 11:06

UPZ created a new boot for 2010-2011. It shoud be very soft with special absorbers. So it's maybe an option for EC, who knows...

I just drunk coffee with a Gablete voll uverschamt u gluschtige Aemmitaler Anke Chueche.
Now I'm just a little bit dubetänzig! That Aemmitaler Anke Chueche shows me on a eigelig chummlig way what colour can be the "?" above!

Schneewurm, that is the reason why I didn´t buy the cream version of the RC 10 this year ... but I am not sure ... loads of translucent skiboots this year ... there were problems in the past (think Burton ...), but maybe the plastics got better ... they should have more experience now ...

WinterGold,
keep a look also to the skiers. You can see some times peoples with broken heel and toe area - on newer stuff. Yes, it depends on material and a lot of skiboots are comming on shiny transcluent plastics. But lifetime of skiboots are way shorter! After 2 or 3 seasons shells ar way different - and most people buys after 5 Years new ones!

The newest available hardboots now are from 1999/2000. Then the UPS RSV Mach / RX Mach/ X Mach, have entering market "ready for the next millenium" with the exact same shell like they sell it today - it seems that will continue a full millenium. Raichle was bringing out then the "brandnew" AF 700 shell. Raichle doesn't exist anymore. Any further development was halted by DeeLuxe.

Another thing is the sideflex of boots for snowboarding. I think UPZ shells are not designed for that, even not on soft plastics. Beside that Your feet are much higher over ground then on other products, what gives You an other feeling on a board.

I think it's better to try than to think in this particular case.

Hi Kari

I'm sorry, I have no more pictures or knowledge about these boots. I just made a copy of the picture which "hans" published on the german forum. Here's a link to a japanese site: http://www.xyz-net.co.jp/actionsports/1 ... er0225.pdf

Kepp in mind, the 3 modells of UPS, now UPZ like RSV Mach / RX Mach/ X Mach have been invented then explicit for multi discipline use like racing and skiing. Defined as e.g. also a dedicated carving ski-boot. For to do carving on ski the shell mustn't allow too much sideflex, try it out!
The UPZ RSV, RX, X-Mach series have been the improventout of the Mach-1 /-2 -Z serie.
The Mach-1 was for precision carving and racing, 2 = enhanced and Z = High-end racing.

Beside these boots, there was the modell Alp Free, an "All terrain general use hardboot" with 2 buckles only!

One good thing at ATB, would be the red toe-soles. I hope they are now out of rubber. The red damper as a sandwich between heel-adapter and shell isn't a good idea for the screws.
The construction looks now like a built-in "sidewinder" you can find it now on Bomber bindings. Watch also the highness of the boots. UPZ are in general high for your stand, now the lift of your feet is even more.

We will see, what people think about the boot, after they tried it out.

What are the proposed benefits of the shell being so soft?

Hmmm UPS Alp free is a rather old story, not a good shape of the inner shoe, at least for me. But these new ones look interesting! At least they changed to more convenient 4 buckles instead of five.
Board? Just a Choc, 180...
