Maybe I'm going to Les Deux Alpes at the end of June... even to practice some techniques that I've seen on this site: will there be anyone of you?!...
Ciao!

Would be cool! :D
Which week-end?

Last year I went to 'les Diablerets' That was very nice, nice pipes, nice crossboarder and not too hard slopes. It was very good to learn new tricks under a very nice sunshine (DO NOT forget your sun glasses!).

However I do not think it is the best place to learn XC.

Les Deux-Alpes the 29-30th June

Post by fivat » Thursday 30 May 2002, 0:39

So it should be the 29-30th June?
Hey, don't you know that the final of the World Football Championship is planned the 30th June (13:00 Paris time)?! :)

I would have loved to come (it's 2h30 by car from my home)... I hope you will get good snow conditions: in June it can be excellent as very bad.

There is a good but small place for extreme carving: the upper part of the slope "Le Signal" (chairlift 45; see the the map below) is steep enough (though its color is blue on the plan).

There is also another red slope "Le Dôme", between the numbers 57 and 43 of the map. The middle is large and steep enough. The problem is that you have to take 2-3 lifts to reach the top of the slope. The advantage is that there is nobody on it :D

Enjoy carving the glacier :!:

Ehm... I was wrong!...

Post by RicHard » Tuesday 18 June 2002, 11:14

...because, due to best prices, finally I decided to go to Tignes.
Is this changing something in the chance to meet someone of the extremecarving site?!?!
:)

So, I'll be there from the 24th of June til the 1st of July.

Ciao!!!

I was forgetting: thank you for your suggestions about Les Deux Alpes...
Any idea about Tignes?

Unfortunately no... The snow conditions on the glaciers are really ugly right now: the temperature has been very high for one week and these canicular days are the worst since 50 years (in June)! :(

I prefer Les Deux-Alpes, but the top of the glacier "La Grande Motte" in Tignes could be steep enough.

Carve the glacier!

Eh, eh!..

Post by RicHard » Wednesday 3 July 2002, 12:29

Wow! The week was fantastic. Really hot the first day but wonderful later.
Very hard snow until 12 o'clock on saturday, until 11 o'clock next days.
Well, I discovered too many things to improve, but I'm satisfied about my level. Snow was not so good to try extremecarving's technique but I tried it when snow was a little softer than ice and it seems to work (not like yours!!!).
Maybe I'll be able to post a short movie so you can suggest me how to eliminate my mistakes (a lot of!) !!

Just an opinion about Tignes:
people that work at the skilift and chairlift are very lazy and not nice.
Always talking each other, smoking and eating without taking care of children that can't take the skilift by themselves, of people jumping the queue, of people falling along the skilift course, etc...
Really unpolite and unable to work properly for what they are paid.

Last thing: some of them speak english (just some! Incredible, in such an international place!)... but they forget it when they understand that you are italian!!!
:-(

Boh?!?!?

RicHard.
