Finnish Easter

Post by pokkis » Tuesday 14 April 2009, 17:07

We had nice Easter carves in Northern Finland at Suomu, great place for carves :bravo:
Here is one of our last carves of season
http://www.pensnowboard.com/easter2.avi

So this was also my end of season weekend, slopes in North are still in great shape for month but distance there is too much (900km) for me.

Thanks for sharing. Nice vid, man those groomers look steep and are well prepared. Just two weeks and then have just 4 days of riding on a few glaciers in Austria, then the season will be over for me as well.

I filmed with riding my board behind Paula and holding small camera on my hand, end result was quite shaky  and then i run it thru Deshaker to get it more stabilized. But it was not perfect balanced.
That is what i get when having only small camera without proper holder, i allways for get that and was also too lazy to get proper camera with 8)

Great job

Still a great job though  . I did have seen shakier movies which were filmed directly out of the hand. I find this a nicer result than a vid recorded by a helmetcamera.

make yourself one of those: i did last year and it works incredibly well... get a skier following you and u're done ( some training required).

it does not get any cheaper than that!

I'm familiar with that one BUT
skier, where to get them ??

Seriously, that is much too big thing to ride with. My standard camera and handle combo would have been enough. But for these normal weekend shooting i prefer my small pocket camera which allows me to shoot HD-stuff without any extra payload.

Moi to the Finnish around here,

what an coincidence, was just about to post a thread about Ylläs but guess this is kinda unnecessary hoping you read this.

I'm gonna be there next week tuesday and wednesday and plan to rent a snowboard and boots. Now my big question: Is it possible to rent an alpine board and hardboots anywhere in Ylläs. A great carving board would be amazing but would actually be happy about any kind of alpine board. :-)

Nope, there no place here where you could get alpine stuff rented
If i would have known earlier, i could perhaps managed to arrange something but not sure even then. Board and bindings is always easier case but boots is tougher call cause very few people want to give their boots out.
Anyway condition there are great so i hope you have good time

Thanks Pokkis!

I guess that forces me to put on some softboods and make the most of it. :-)

Fast vibrations can't be entirely eliminated afterwards. And you always get them when you shoot while skidding. Deshaker or any other stabilizing software will then produce this artifacts by trying to remove the worst parts regardless.

Another problem with Deshaker is that you are forced to zoom in the stabilized shot to remove the floating boarders.

Nice shot anyway. 8)
