Heel bails for F2 Race Titanium bindings

Post by harald » Thursday 2 April 2009, 10:15

Unfortunetely, I broke the heel bail on one of my F2 Race Titanium bindings last week. The bail is with the original, thinner diameter, not this year's model. I have asked Blue Tomato for spares, but they cannot help me. I hope that there are anyone who knows were I can buy spare bails to my binding.

Re: Heel bails for F2 Race Titanium bindings

I have broken 4 heel bails this season.
F2 finally sent me only toes bails: they have no heel bails left. 8O

The thicker new bails seem to make the bindings stiffer. :-( Moreover I saw a rider whose heel bails were not holding his Deeluxe boots properly (because the plastic parts below the heels were not modified for the thicker bails).

Why you dont modify bails from cable? that should not be too tough call to make, and that could still be flexible and hold much better than full metal bail.

You cold create holder which allows usage of stranded cable instead of solid metal as bail, ie replacing existing metal bail with stranded cable "bail".
I was thinking that some time ago but due i did not needed it then i passed it.

Guys,
one good option is to buy some older Proflex bindings from Ebay. Check out eg. this link:
Proflex in eBay.de
The bails are exactly the same than in F2 bindings. Well, maybe the color might vary from time to time but otherwise, they match perfectly to F2. For 40 €, you get full set of backup bails (and also nuts, which also brake every now and then).

Good, huh? :D

Yes, Whitey is right, this is tested and approved... I bought 3 pairs in the last 2 years, for less than 30 euros each I have enough spare pieces for the coming years.

What is strange is that I used to break 2 bails per season in the past and since I change my settings, no more breaks...

also

www.settimosport.it has all the spare parts you need for f2 bindings.

We were able to have this spare parts available thanks to the strong growth in the italian forum!!!!! and to the kind support of Roberto from Settimo Sport who I thank again for his help.

they are not yet on the site but he will put them on:

Price:
35€ the front couple
25€ the back couple
6 mm

He might have to sell them with the base which costs some extra money 10€ I think but you can call Roberto at:

Hi,
Thanks for the advices. Unfortunately carversparadise is sold out of the 5,4 mm bails.
Silver. I do not speak or read Italian. Do you have the possibility to check whether settimosport have the 5,4 mm (old) heelbails?
Regards,
harald

Sorro, how did you change 'em? Something to do with binding angles, stance or maybe something else?

Thanks! :chinese:

I also broke a heel bail (front foot) on a TD2 binding. Fortunately, I have spare heel bails (titanium) for my TD2s. However, I like the F2 bindings better because they are easier to get into on the slopes, even in difficult positions. The springs at the heel bail on the TD2s are too weak, so the bail usually go out of position and it is a lot of fumbling getting the bindings on. However, if it is not possible to purchase spare 5,4mm heel bails for F2 in the future (I bought the Proflexes, thanks Whitey), I still has the option to go back to the TD2s. There is still 1 week or 2 left of the season.
