Powdersnow-Season - 2008-2009

Post by Schneewurm » Thursday 30 October 2008, 22:03

What a great start to powdersnow this winter!
Early-winter brought some nice snowfalls over Central Europe, so I decided to take my swallowtail for going freeriding today. Sure, no lifts are running near to me, so I had to walk up (right, thats fully free of any pollution of CO²) on a hearty landscape for every run. One run was comparable to the total high You can do now-a-days on Sölden glacier, just with the advantage that I had not to share a wide area with thousends of other poeples (only one more skier on my area).
Well, I read, there are poeple now, they take also their swallow up to Sölden (some new snow) for the weekend. But on my opinion, glacier-gaps should just be refilled with snow now and all next month, not with tourists!
O.k., hicking up through the forest with heavy loaded trees, was just like easy walking - but also danger! Some times "snow-bombs" have been discharged from them to me!
So I enjoyed some nice turns in deep powdersnow (had to change on bigger and wider board after my first run) on a very calm day and on fresh and clear air at some hours of sun. I felt like in a deep winterday, all around was in white. After entering my home with my hardboots, I closed my rides with a sweet hot chocolate drink, just prepared from the famous pure cacao powder from Caillers.

H2O, please help me, they are open now? I thought they will open Dezember 6. !?
Cumulative snowfalls in some regions was at 3.5-5 meters above 2500 the last 10 days!
But I did not find lifts they will be open (except SaasFee/Zermatt with less snow). My ears are glowing from my telephone earset last Thursday, asking the resorts if they will open!

Nils, what does tight schedule and 4 kids (one heavy) have to do with knocked-knees? Or did I miss something... :?:

We do that... just look at our share price.... a result of hard work and dedication... we saved 1 digit! Now the share price can be written using one digit less.....
