AF 700

Post by saso » Tuesday 14 October 2003, 13:03

Hi!

Try Raichle (Deeluxe) AF 700. They are one of the best if not the best boots on the market today. They are pretty stiff but you can soften them up a bit if you try.

AF700 or AF600

Probably the AF600 is better for extremecarving because it is softer. We will try this model intensively this season. Above all, the spring system is very important!

Boots

Post by harald » Tuesday 14 October 2003, 15:38

What about UPS RSV. I bought a pair last winter to substitute for my pair of Raichle 323. However, it was so late in the season and the weather pretty warm, so it was difficult to get an impression of their riding abilities and flex in colder weather. Furthermore, I am not certain how to adjust the spring system. Have you any advice for this?

I'm having Deeluxe 700's with new softer spring and they are not too stiff any more. And good thing is that just by switching spring i can get them back to race mode.
EDIT: To clarify, i'm using much softer spring than either of originals, which i felt much too stiff.

I am using the Deeluxe Indy. Comes with hard and soft springs, so you can switch. I am using the soft one, since it gives more flexibility. Also, the tonques are much better dan UPS. I would go for Deeluxe!

Hi Nils I think that af 600 haven't spring only you can vary the inclination of the boots in 5 points . Only in two of this you can have a bit of amortiguation, and in one of this you have a neutral position for walk. At least this is the sistem of last year and many people changE it for the sistem of af700., THIS YEAR........

Hi, I tried out the AF600 as well as the AF700. In my opinion the AF600 is better suited for EC because it is somewhat softer. The AF700 was designed for the world cup riders who need very stiff boots. That is, it is especially the shell of the AF700 that I find very stiff - too stiff to be able to ride smoothly.

If you like that stiffness, too, the AF700 might suit you. If not, go for AF600. I have been riding them for several years now and I am very content. I tried out once the Northwave boots, admittedly they were already quite worn after many years of riding, but still I much preferred the AF600.

And it is no problem to install the Raichle Acceleration Box ("the spring") instead of the simple opening mechanism. Just ask your dealer to change it, costs a fifty euro or so in addition (still cheaper than AF700). I think the RAB is quite useful. I experimented a while until I had found my favourite setting, but now it feels very good.

One can get 700's with 200 euros, so by spending some money fo softer spring, instead getting 600's which you can not get stiff anyway, is worth of every penny.Plus you need to spend ceratin ammount to get them fixed for spring anyway.
ONLY issue with 700's i have is that they dont have walikng position, but hey,
these boots are not made for walking (TM)

Now, (as mentioned) the problem in my opinion is that the shell of the AF700 is too stiff, so a softer spring will not help. The stiffness cannot ne only regulated with a spring, the shell has to help too. I found that the AF700 prevented me from keeping a relaxed position in the knees to absorb any shocks coming, because the shell would not bend.

That is something i tried to say there above. Original "soft" spring is much too stiff and also to get full out of these otherwise great boots is extending thread as explained here already before.
Atleast for me biggest issue was too stif "soft" spring.

Did anyone heard about them?
I found KASTINGER Executer Foam boots on ebay when searched hardboots for a friend. What would he expect from them?
