ECS Zinal 2008

Post by Viviane » Tuesday 26 February 2008, 18:39

To Jacques, Patrice, Sam and all who cooperated to make this event happen,

we (Noud, Dirk and I) wanted to thank you for the wonderfull days we could anticipate in. The opportunity you gave us to meet so many nice people, to learn so much about the thing we all want most: doing the laid turns, the great time we had.
You did a great job in coordinating the whole event. To us it was spectacular, the great feeling it left will last for weeks if not for the rest of the year. We are looking out allready for the next event to come.
Thank you all who made it possible :!: :!: :!:
To all the participants: See you next year in Zinal!
Viviane, Noud and Dirk

I have posted this - but on another thread.
Let me place it here as well, since this it the "right" place to post my thanx.

I am still riding in heaven for this very fulfilling experience - my first attendance to an ECS. And what an experience it was: fantastic weather, great scenery, excellent company. (some extreme carving by many, less extreme from me).
So, let me take this opportunity to thank everybody who was in Zinal for their company and friendliness.
See you all next year - or sooner if there is an occasion.

Ciao to all,
Alessandro - Extreme Carver wannabe

It's my fourth ECS and is absolutely the best, not for the snow, but sure for the best organization
As usual thanks to Patrice , Jacques and Nils (he's not present...but he's producing new carvers :-) and I'm sure that he was there with the heart ) for the effort to take alive the swoard's world :bravo:
A special thanks to Samantha, Arnaud and to all volunteers (me too) that improve a lot the organization and give me the possibility to be an ec-instructor :clap2:
Thanks to all other carvers-friends to have made the ecs so greats and fun

This was my first ECS and it was really fantastic, i still can´t get rid of the pictures and impressions i have in my mind. The spirit of the whole session and passion of the people was really great. I met so many fantastic people from all around the world and had chances to ride which so many excellent extremecarvers, thanks a lot to all to make this happen.
Of course special thanks to Samantha, Jacques, Patrice for organizing the whole event in a very professional way.

The only bad thing is that i got a muscle rupture in my right upper arm which means a break to get well for quite some time.

I hope to see you all again latest at the ECS next year.

Carve hard and keep healthy.

We were in the same hotel as Hans and we saw him yesterday evening again and he had some pains here and there but wasn't allowed by the doctor to go on the plain at 20:00 so he had to stay with Tore.
He told us that he would really like to get in contact with someone who saw the accident because he is missing about 15 minutes of his memory during and after the accident

Besides all this he was joking a lot again yesterday evening so we were very happy to see that again and we all have to wait what the outcome of the test results will be....
so we keep our fingers crossed and all the best to Hans

Fire of Babylon and all the rest that wonder about Hans' condition,
He is now at home and in good condition, the circumstances taken into consideration. He and our Florence Nightingale (Tore), stayed the night over in Zinal and returned back to Norway by bus, train and plane Tuesday. He still can't remember what happened and nobody seemed to really have seen what happened. We also wonder what happened with the other person in the accident.
After all, it was brilliant days in Zinal. I do not think we can imagine all the work behind organizing this event in such a professional way  . Remember, it has all been done on their spare time so a great thank to Samantha, Jacques, Patrice, Nils, and the volunteers :bravo: :clap2: .
Regards to all,
harald

Thanks a lot, Jaques, Patrice, Samantha and everybody else, who made this great event possible once again!

I missed my backpack incl. Video cam and some goggles since Saturday evening until Monday evening (then it showed up again), I had some trouble with my bindings and a friend got hurt at the shoulder... "So this must have been a really bad ECS for you" - "No, it was absolutely great!"

This is, what an ECS is about: Meeting wonderful people, admiring their riding style and technical abilities, learning a lot about your own riding, doing nothing than carving and talking carve for three days and celebrating alpine snowboarding. Nothing could disturb the sensation of the ECS, and I am already looking forward to be there again.

Question: What about crowdness of the "two black slopes"?
The reason for asking is, that I've been to the first (~70ppl?) and second ECS (>100 ppl?). And already at the second session the "two black beauties" were not crowded at all by skiiers, but by Carvers. That was, why a friend of mine and me always choose the other run than the rest of the other that grouped together with J and P. Now I hear of ~200 people, so the crowd at the runs are now doubled? :?

Cause I'd like to go to Zinal again (the resort is great and meeting other carvers) but I also would like to have it as empty as in the former times, if you know what I mean

Cheers

Hi Max.

It was much much more crowded than ever before. But my main problem were not snowboarders, they distributetd very well across the area. A big difference to previous years were many skiers speeding downhill in a way which is totally unknown to me in Zinal

crowded

Post by Viviane » Thursday 28 February 2008, 21:59

Hi Skywalker,
since it was my first ECS I cannot compair to previous years, but
the much more skiers on the slopes was probably due to the fact that there was vacation in Switserland, France, partly Holland and perhaps Germany?
Not the crowd but their overspeeding was what gave me the shivers too.
It was nevertheless a great happening.

I also want to thank all organisers and volunteers who made this event so memorable.
Thank to all the participants, the spirit and community feeling makes this event what it is.
Hopefully none got seriously hurt and has nice rest of season.
I witnessed 2 broken bindings and 1 binding release, so be careful and check your equipment!

Special thanks also to Swiss meteo, who kept clouds away once again!
