Nice video...only thing it seems that you have a very narrow stance on your board...

Hi silber ,
My Feet distance is 46cm . (My Height is 178cm)
It is nearly Mr Patrice Fivat.
Japanese people's leg is shorter than world average , maybe.

It actually confirms my idea. Even thoug you might have shorter legs, it still looks like your bindings are too close for your height. I am riding 53 and I am 187 under the thumb rule of height/3.5. You should be going with around 50 (check old threads)! It actually does make a difference in EC as it is more of a "surfer" style.. At the beginning it might feel a little akward, but it does pay at the end. At least try it for fun!

Stance

Post by Arnaud » Tuesday 21 March 2006, 9:36

I'm 174, and up to now, I rode with 48-49 cm stance. Accidentally during ECS'06, I tried with 52 cm : it's much much better. More stability, more control on edge, easier for backside. I definively keep this value.

All the contrary for me:
I began to ride my swoard with the same stance than my freestyle board: 54cm. But it hurt a lot (knees and particularly feet).
With 48-49cm, i feel fine. (1m83 tall)

Then, it depends also on legs, feet ...

stance

Post by Katsunori » Wednesday 22 March 2006, 13:31

In fact , I try more wider stance ( 46cm --> 49cm ) yesterday.
I feel more tire , and more difficult to make quick turn with push the board .
impression is different , only 3cm !

Benn, do you have boots modifications? with 54 you were probably exaggerating, considering that you should be riding approx 52. 1 cm in stance makes a big difference. Binding angles also affect the stance. Most of all if you are using stiff boots (no modifications on them) then if you are riding wide the back leg pushing against the boot that doesn't bend will hurt a lot. That's why u have no prob with the soft boots riding 54. If you don't have modifications try riding wide with boots on walk mode and angles like 50 45.

Ciao

Hi Katsunori,

I just saw all the videos and was fascinated and filled with enthusiasm.
To let you know: I discovered the homepage of Swoard a few months ago.
Opus 2 till 4 became immediately my favourite videos, watching them
every day. To do laid down turns was my aim all the years, but didn`t
know about the technics. I studied it in Opus 2 till 4.

I think, if someone wants to learn EC, he will have to watch all your videos.
One till four shows how not to do (like my style till now).
Then Abura rides wonderfull turns (of course you too).

After this there will be a quantum jump in my style.
I mean: learning extreme carving is much easier with this videos.
Should be shown every ec-beginner.

Thanks a lot Katsunori
