Did U mean the famous Hungarian liqueur UNICUM in the spherical bottle with a red cross on it? Well, frankly its not my favourite, but I can take some with me to Zinal if you guys want to try.

So everything should be fine :), plus we'll get to ride a few slopes with trees which is nice ( see opus 1)

Okay fine with me, snow is snow, much cosier with the trees around.

Jagermeister

Post by István » Wednesday 1 February 2006, 20:20

Hans,

Now I know, it is the Jagermeister - it is an Austrian speciality, so some of the Austrian fellas here should be considered the pros in that sport.

BTW on that pic those were 2cl bottles, so a 100 makes 2 liters. There were a few more, but they broke when the tower built of them felt apart.

Nils, can we buy Jagermeister in Switzerland? U know, just to be on the safe side....

It is made of herbs and considered to be medicine.... I surely know that it works in large volume.... :-)

Best,

Istvan

So as I started this Threads some days ago, I think, it's time to share the latest weather forecast with you.

Today they predict snowfall (maybe even some more) for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. So with some luck it will be very similar to last year's conditions: Enough snow for Carving, but a bit soft... Lt's hope!!!

Snowfall

Post by fivat » Tuesday 7 February 2006, 20:31

It will snow 40-50 cm in north-east of Switzerland and the sun will be back on Saturday :!:

But unfortunately it will snow only a little bit in Zinal (and all the region of Valais)... :-( I pray for 10 cm: it could make the snow good in Grimentz. Zinal has still too many stones: people there have not seen that for several tens of year! The only good slope is "Durand". The others are awful...

Hi, Patrice

How ridable are the pists in Grimentz without that 10cm of future snow??

By the way, if I look at Zinal.net, this site gives a 'bonnes' for the pists in Zinal, must be a big joke then :? :?

If Zinal and Grimentz are not ridable what are other possiblities?

Please inform us in time how about the tickets and so on, thanks all. Since you are definately right, it's not gonna snow in Valais anyway (snow isn't forecasted in this area, pitty).

Greets, Hans.

Zinal Grimentz

Post by nils » Wednesday 8 February 2006, 9:01

Jacques has been to Grimentz and Zinal last week, and Zinal man confirmed it too:

- Conditions in zinal , especially on La Corne and Barthelemy are too risky for EC ( too many stones). Only Durand ( the far left slope) is ok, as well as the very steep black that goes back to the village (the one with the safety nets).

- Conditions in Grimentz are ok, thanks to artificial equipment: Snow is going to be hard, but is rideable for EC conditions. Grimentz even has a snow park where Jacques will display his new 1080 mule grab trick.

In case it snows more than 20 cm, it will be ok in Zinal, but for the time beeing, the ECS is scheduled for Grimentz.

This is how things will work:

0800 hour:
meeting same place as usual ( zinal lift parking): Everyone goes to the lift booth with the paper they received after paying the packages: they will receive: lift passes that are also good for Grimentz, and the dinner proof of purchase. Others with no pre paid packages will be able to buy it then.

0820-0830 hour:
Going back to the cars, and filling them with everyone then drive the 8 min drive to Grimentz, unload, take the lift and ride till 1600-1700 hour

People that are late will be informed in Zinal to go to Grimentz.

Meeting point in Grimentz uphill is unknown yet, but likely it will be at the main Gondola arrival ( hard to miss)

Hans,

Conditions are much better at Grimentz, strangely!

Wind has all ruined at Zinal, not at Grimentz which has 2-3 times more snow.

The fresh snow that could fall on Thursday will make the slopes softer for people who don't like hard snow ;-)
