Does anyone know of carving rental shops and lessons in Sestriere? I have a week vacation and want to use it to begin learning to carve. I ride an Arbor Mickey Munoz model now and carve - sort of - but want to know the real thing.

There is no Carving rental shop in europe ! But you will find alpine boards in most shops in big resorts like sestriere.... Just check a few shops once there to compare what they have for rent...
good luck

well, i'd rather say you will find alpine boards in most big resorts like sestriere.

There will always be one shop with alpine boards. if you find several ones in a same resort, you're lucky!

Sestriere

Hi !
I'm Italian and I know the Sestriere ( I've learned to carve in that spot years ago ! ).
You will find rental service but from about 3 years the snowboard market has begun following the usa market and the alpine and carving
boards, bindings and boots are disappeared from the stores.
The last season I've gone to Sestriere is 3 years ago and at that time the
shops had a lot of carving boards to choose from....now I don't know.
If I think that now in Florence, where there're two big Snowboards and Surf stores I've found only ONE Alpine Board ( F2 ) and ONE pair of hard boots ( DeeLuxe ), while 3 years ago the Alpine materials was the same in number of the soft....I don't how many possibilities you have to find something....good luck !

Hello, Lobella (o Iobella?)...
I've been in Florence last week... but I dindn't see you in a carving performance while I was walking along the wonderful streets of your city!...
Uhmmm... where were you?!... I was there for an exhibition (Expogoal)... but no carvers were visible :-)
Wonderful city, nice people... hope to be there again very soon!...

Thanks to everyone. I now have some hope of renting carving equipment.

Hi Richard
I'm happy that you' ve found Florence a beautiful city....
there's one spot at only one hour from Florence very good.
There 're a lot of Freeriders and Freestylers, but there's no more a carving community....the last year at that spot the only one I've seen with hardboots was....myself...:-)

bye

Lorenzo
