Hi,
I've been mostly a lurker here and this is the first actual post I'm making here.
This year I've started learning EC in Tahoe area (thanks to a lot of advice and support through emails and actual riding with folks like Peter Vu and many other tahoecarvers). Anyways, thing are going fine but I've hurt my shoulder already 3 times on heelside!!!
It happens everytime as I slide my lower arm/hand on the snow while on a deep heelside. My hand gets caught in the snow and my whole arm bounces back into my shoulder and it scares the hell out of me (afraid of posterior dislocation of my humerus head)let aside the extreme pain and not being able to raise my arm above the shoulder for almost a week!
What am I doing wrong? If there is a thread here that handles this topic, please let me know.

Kamran,
I hope you did not hurt your shoulder because of me

The season is almost over so take care of it during the summer season.
I occasionally hurt my shoulder as well so I may not have the answer to your question, but I have suggestions
1) Don't try to rub your armpit on the snow at all cost. On some mellow pitches, just don't do it. You can simply push/pull your way with your arms by your side. No EC "look" required on those slopes and beside, you may not have enough speed to carve for that laydown "look".
2) If you are brave and confident of your carves, you can do laydown without the arms but that's risky because if you slip, you end up carving on your nose
3) Use your arm ONLY for security and balance purpose, not for "EC look".
Hope this helps a bit.
Peter

Hi , Kamran!
I hurt my shoulder in 3 ocassions, in differents sport how motocroos, snowboard , and windsurf, this was my last important dislocation of my shoulder doing windsurf with a very, very strong wind in the sea, and 2m waves.
I took 2 hours in arrive to the beach, only hold on my board by one of my hands and swim with my legs, with my shoulder dislocated and too much pain.
So, after this, I took the decission to pass for the operating theathre and actually my shoulders is in very good shape for do all what I like.
Hope this helps!!
