SWOARD ECS 2022 > how to participate + questions

Post by Swoard team » Wednesday 12 January 2022, 16:52

Hello everyone! 8)
The ExtremeCarving Session (ECS) will have its 19th edition! :D :birthday: :silly: From Saturday 29 to Monday 31 January 2022 !
We are opening registration and package sales now: see links below.

COVID-19 > IMPORTANT

Find out about the conditions for entering Switzerland.
 This link makes it easy to find out what conditions apply to you: Travelcheck (select your language at top right)
 Must be completed: Entry form (select your language at top right)

************ UPDATE - 19 January ************
Great news from the Swiss government today! :bravo:

 From 22 January, you won't need to present a test upon entry in Switzerland if you are vaccinated or recovered!

If you are not vaccinated or not recovered, you will have to present a test, but a second test won't be required anymore 4-7 days after entering the country.
***********************************************

Sanitary masks are only compulsory indoors, in cable cars and gondolas. But not on the slopes or chairlifts. Restaurants are accessible with a Covid Certificate.

CONCEPT

The preceding years, this event, organized and sponsored by Swoard, has become much more than simple test days of the brand, because we also propose our ride technique which we tirelessly explain and teach by giving our setups, tips, secrets, etc. This is probably unique among all brands. We are passionate riders above all.

The session is open to the people who want to test Swoard boards, find the proper flex of board (it's like custom choice, another specificity of the brand), take free lessons with the Swoard EC instructors or share their experience. Open to both hardboots and softboots riders, with models to suit everyone.

ACTIVITIES

Due to the uncertainties of the pandemic situation, we had to give up the organization of the big dinner on Saturday evening. But everything else remains, with the usual "session" spirit (riding together, as defined by the surfers). The Swoard stand is the opportunity to meet easily outside.

- Stand: drinks, snacks, ... and demo boards on loan

- Demo boards: Extremecarver Gen5, Extremecarver Pro2, Dual2 and... surprise, the new STOKE (softboots only)

- Psite "Le Col" reserved for participants from 9am to 11am

- Free extremecarving lessons on Saturday and Sunday, from 1pm to 3pm (registration at the stand in the morning)

- Group photo: Saturday at 11:30 am near the stand

- Monday: "free session" day (no stand)

PROCEDURE

Step 1: find an accommodation

 If you have not booked your hotel in Zinal or Grimentz yet (the resorts are connected by a gondola), don't wait anymore! The villages are small. Click here.

Step 2: choose your package

 Each extremecarver can benefit from a better price on the skipass by purchasing online a blue package or a red package, but BEFORE the event. In Zinal it will be too late: the skipasses are sold at normal price only.

> BLUE PACKAGE: 138 CHF (Swiss Francs)
Skipass for 3 days (Saturday + Sunday + Monday) + Reserved slope "Le Col" + Activities

> RED PACKAGE: 99 CHF (Swiss Francs)
Skipass for 2 days (Saturday + Sunday or Sunday + Monday) + Reserved slope "Le Col" + Activities

Step 3: purchase your package online or by phone

 Direct link to the purchase of the packages: BLUE or RED.

 You also can contact the Reservation Center of "Sierre-Anniviers Marketing". It is NOT located in Zinal.
Phone number: +41 (0)848 848 027 (Mon-Fri 08:00-12:00 / 13:30-17:30)
E-mail address: info@sierre-anniviers.ch

Step 4: add your name to the list of participants

 Add your name in the other thread with the list of participants to inform the Forum community about your coming, so we can reserve our slope.

Any question related to this session?

All questions can be asked in this thread below! Thank you! 8)

Good news! The prices of the packages in Swiss Francs (CHF) are still very attractive. This year they include only the skipasses (and the reserved slope) but you win up to 15% on the price.

The normal price of the skipass at Zinal-Grimentz is 67 CHF per day.
For 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 consecutive days, the normal price is 110 / 162 / 213 / 259 / 295 CHF.

Frequent questions:

(1) Will it be possible to buy some DEMO boards?

No, the demo boards are in good state and we will keep them for next winter. But some Dual2 can be sold on Sunday (ask at the stand at 11.30am).

(2) Will it be possible to purchase some NEW boards during the ECS?

Not during this session. Anyway we deliver worldwide. We ship from France (though Swoard is a Swiss company) at good price, and there is no custom tax in EU.

(4) Will it be possible to test the new Swoard-UPZ EC12 hardboots?

As we carry so many boards and bags, it's not possible to take additional hardboots. Moreover everyone has to find his proper flex with the extra tongues and springs. However, one or two pairs will be visible at the stand (and their size can be tested).

If you live outside the border areas, you need to present a negative PCR test (not older than 72h) or a negative rapid antigen test (not older than 24h) upon entry.
If you are not vaccinated, a second test is required 4-7 days after entering the country. This may be a PCR test or a rapid antigen test. The result must be communicated to the competent cantonal office (Valais).

The piste "Le Col" is currently excellent and will remain so! :D

It will be reserved for us during the ECS in the mornings, if there are at least 30 participants. It is important to register early enough for us to be able to do this, otherwise the piste is used for ski training.

The "Durand" is excellent in natural snow. The "Barthélémy" was very well prepared and we did not see any stone today, even if we have to remain vigilant on this piste.

It looks like it will be a great session! :silly: :birthday:

Hello Bram,

Excellent! :bravo:
Don't forget to add your name (and your friend) in the list here: SWOARD ECS 2022 > who's coming?

So we can organize the food at the stand (we are preparing a surprise!), and justify the reserved piste (the more we are, the better, because the skiers are protesting ;-) ).

See you on Saturday! 8)

Hello everyone!
The event is just around the corner! :birthday:

The weather will be great on Saturday and Sunday! 8)

 Surprise at the stand: there will be raclette!
It's a way to enjoy a good atmosphere, as there is no big dinner on Saturday evening because of the pandemic. Besides, the restaurant owner is having difficulties with staff absences. So our decision was wise.

 Don't forget the group photo on Saturday at the stand, from 11:30. :D

See you soon! :silly:

Dear Swoard team,
Do you also have carve boots at the stand, or tips were to rent/buy them in Zinal? (EU size 42)
My friend Alex broke his carve shoes today in a free session.
Also other participants can reply with advice.
Thanks, Sander

With the tent, all the demo boards (almost all sizes and flexes of the 4 models) and many bags, it's not humanly possible to bring demo hardboots (Swoard-UPZ EC12). :? And there are no more shops in Switzerland that rent hardboots (if someone knows a shop, please tell us). 8O
