Dual2 168!

Post by BOLETUS73 » Wednesday 10 February 2021, 13:40

hi guys, the ski lifts should open the 15/2 in italy....   and I'm thinking about snowboarding again :D :D :P

A friend of my cousin thinking of selling his dual 2 168... I've always looked for 163 because 168 scares me....
i'm not a "big guy" i have small feet..8.5us... all my boards are waist between 25-25.4cm... but the 68 have a waist of 25.8...
it doesn't seem like much, but every time I've tried a wider board I've always found myself uncomfortable ... i ride mostly in a small resort with narrow slopes and trees lines with a lot of trees :D
my body sizes are 175cmX73kg(naked  ) with 8.5us... my stance is 54-55cm wide with low angles.. +15 +3... do i have to keep looking for 163 or can I also think of 168? I'm very undecided ... :?: :?: :?:
thanks!!!

Hi

The best should be to try it ! Don't be afraid about the width. 25.8 is not that wide. I tried recently some very wide boards and with a good construction the width is not a problem. It is sure that the 163 will be more lively than the 168 but it's not a matter of width. It's more linked to the length.
8.5 Us is 26.5 Mondo or 41 Euro, do you confirm ?

Hi Arnaud thanks for the reply... eheheh.... i can't try now because is out of my region... :? but i tried the 163 for four hours two years ago.... and i love it... it feels lively but not nervous a real carving dream.. the width was ok, but if it was 3-4mm more I wouldn't have complained.. I believe that in the foot area of my boards with deeper sidecut I have a few more millimeters :) nothing that can not be improved with a little riser..
yes i confirm... 8.5us is more like 41.5...

25.8 is not wide, you will get used to that quickly. After an hour you will not notice it anymore.

My softboot board is 27.5cm waist. It felt wide for the first few hours, after that I was totally used to it. In fact I regret not making it wider as I still have too much overhang (mondo 30 :( ). I will make my next SB board with a 29-30 cm waist and I am not worried at all about it being too wide.

Hi Tim

What is your board ? A custom one ?

Agree about the width, but note that Boletus73 doesn't have mondo 30 boots but 26.5.

Boletus73 is lucky :D . I know he does not need to go very wide, I just mean that he should not be scared to go a little wider.

The board is indeed a custom one (I build all my boards myself).
