2019-20 Boots and Bindings for SWOARD DUAL 2

Post by Pkay » Monday 11 November 2019, 0:31

Hi All!

I will be soon purchasing DUAL 2. I'd like to know your opinion about boots and bindings?

My experience with Flow:
In the last couple of years, I used Flow boots and bindings; however, the binding was not capable of taking the EC turns; it kept coming loose after ac couple of turns. The metals frame got bent and the buckles got broken. (my conditions are pretty rough: 3 years, 12-15 days every year; 90 minutes constant carving on each day (excluding time on lift).

Available options:
These are what I have found on the market so far:

Bindings:
(https://unionbindingcompany.com/product ... 4677266537)

Boots:
https://www.thirtytwo.com/us/boots/mens ... FF&start=5

Please let me know what bindings and boots you'd recommend :)

Thank you,
Pk

Hi

About boots, have a look to :
Nitro Team, Select or Capital : https://www.nitrousa.com/men/boots
Northwave Decade or Domain : http://northwavesnow.com/en/products/boot/man/
Salomon Malumute or HiFi : https://www.salomon.com/en-int/shop-eme ... boots.html

As binding we also suggest Now Drive or the new PHK Mix : http://www.phk-italia.com/en/products/mix-2/

Are they worth it to an average user though? I don't mind a bit more expensive gear if it's worth it.

First day with the Northwave Decade. I'm really happy with them.
The liner is comfortable and ensure a perfect holding.
Flex is moderate and allow good control during turns with quick edge change.
No compression under the toe strap, the boot is stiff enough in the toe area.
The main weak point is the length. The footprint is higher then other models (size 28)

Tested on a Dual 163 with Mix bindings

PHK team is finishing the assembling.
Don't expect delivery during Christmas rush and holidays, it's hell.
So please wait for January to get more info.

We already have some preseries which you could see during the 17th ExtremeCarving Session in Zinal.

Just my 2cents
The Dual 2 is also a great boot with hardboots!
Am riding mine with light Swoard Redline bindings ( tried also with TD2's and fin's carbon) and my light TLT6 ski touring boots I am using for splitboarding...the combo is nice and with lower angles than on the Extremecarver it feels also more agile. ( Front 42/back 25 )

I am using the Dual2 for all the days where I am not using the Extremecarver or my splitboard or my powderboards...which means 50% of my riding now is on the Dual2 with hardboots!

Interesting, as used hardboots with my Dual, and paid the price with Plantar faciitis. I was riding 'all conditions', and also doing other impact sports, but it certainly played a part. So anything that softens things, I am interested. I am on the original Dual though, is it vastly different?
Soft: Dual 175, Burton Driver-X, Flux CV
Hard: Gen4 175M, UPZ RC10, F2 Race Titanium

Let me re-phrase. I was riding with F2 Race Titanium and UPZ RC10 on original Dual 175, and conditions which were not smooth, the impact to the feet was not good. It is a wide board, and the damping is not the same as Gen4 and above, it seems. Not sure on the latest Dual, as did not try this (was travelling light and did not bring softboots for testing in Zinal).

I am curious to see how the PHK Mix bindings, with the spring, works out.
