I have been there a lot of times! aprox 7 times during my study (it was cheap!!).

Yes, Risoul has great carving slopes, but it can take some time to find or reconise them on a map!

have a lot of fun there!!

BTWL: you can not rent or buy carving related stuff there so take some spare parts!

Be aware that the snow conditions in the "Alpes du sud" vary extremely from year to year. It's either 3 metres of snow, or it is 30 cm's, there seems to be nothing in between.
The problem is not the temperatures (it's high enough) but the fact that precipitation is very unpredictable. When high pressure is in the wrong place (just west of france) for a long time, they have blue skies for months on end. Like this year: they had about 40% of normal precipitation.

If you have to book ahead, go elsewhere (at least this year). Miracles apart, they have a snowyear that is entirely lost already.

If you want to go to france, go to the "PO" (Pyrenees Orientales; eastern side of the Pyrenees). They have the best snowbase of whole europe.

Soldeu is a nice area (Grandvalira); and easy to get to with budget flights to Barcelona.
