Very scary indeed.
And I thought changing to Intecs (F2's race titanium AND titanflex) last year was a good idea - thinking they were superior to the common bail bindings in terms of safety. Little did I know. Well, maybe the bindings are more reliable but what good is that when the heels are crap? Geez.

Neither the bindings are more reliable - I believe. Not to mention the flex issues that come with the intec systems, check previous mailings on this.
Furthermore there are conditions when it is really difficult to click in into the intec (e.g. very steep icy slope, deep snow, etc.)
The only thing that is fancy about intecs is that guys with that are almost at the middle of the slope when I manage to close my conventional binding

so I look after them with sad eyes sitting in the snow.... but when it comes to circumstances defined above, I'm the one laughing
Cheers,
István

I would not make big deal about this issue, end result is same as on braiking bail on traditional bindings anyway. And ammount these cases is extremely low compared bail breakage.
How many of you have broken one or many bails ? How many have broken Intec heel ?
What i would like to see in this case is how that heel looks inside, only after that we can speculate what happened here.

Well I made a peek inside my intecs, as far I can see construction of heel is quite solid. IMHO there is no way that pins can bend an be pulled off.
As pokkis wrote there should be a picture inside the heel to make any conclusions what really happened
My guess is that smalll pin which keeps the bigger one in place has to dropped off . Another possibility is that the plastic mechanism connected to springs has failed.
So for safety reasons I`ll chek all my intecs inside before I put them on my boots. Basicly I still think that intecs are reliable system, just chek your hardware at regular basis

As far as I can say I must admit that the intec is harder that I like it. Last week I had a severe crash with my board when I flew out of a deep backside turn directly into an snowcannon supply cabinet. As I am a goofy rider my right shoe was blasted and my right shinbone and fibula broke up.
It was a rather unnormal force to work on the front binding - but it did not open or broke up. At least at this point I must say, that the first heavy duty test is done and from my point of view the intec is the winner...
