Hey just looking for some quick advice.
I have Burton SL-7 boots. They are semi-hard and I use the hard plastic insert to make them a little harder. If I was to buy a cheap alpine board to give it a try could I continue to use my SL-7's? Or would I need buy new boots too?
Here are my boots(link below) so you have a better idea of my question:

thanks for the help.

Hey,
For my first alpine gear, I look for months to buy good used gear.
My boots, I asked a man if he had something? He looked in the back of the store and picked out brand new Raichels (2years old but still in the box)
Price: 70€
Last month, I found something for 200€: board from HOT, X-bone step-in and boots from head
(See my website:http://dendave.fotopic.net/c318948.html for more pics)
It's not a swoard, I know, but as a student, I can't buy a swoard yet
So look and find on the web, good luck

If you are really strapped for cash, I would suggest getting hard boots first and then the carving board. In my opinion, putting hard boots on a good, stiff, freeride/all-mountain (as opposed to freestyle) board is much closer to the real experience than soft boots on an alpine board (which seems like it would be just plain miserable).
