anyone extremecarving with a Plate?

Post by neanderthal » Saturday 22 March 2014, 7:14

I am wondering if anyone is using a plate system for extremecarving. There have been some comments on this board about plate systems before but it seems to me evolving technology.

yes I (we) do!
I use mono plate (floating system), mk plates.
you can see our extremecarving photos with the plate on facebook.com/carvingteam and page from plate manufacturer here (www.facebook.com/mk.equipment)

this post is not commercial but my extremecarving setup. if it is too commercial let me know.

Most people doing EC don't use plates, but some do yes.
The weight issue and the loss of micro informations from the board seems to be the main reasons why we don't use plates.
I have tried a plate system on a Kessler and a Swoard Extremecarver, and the extra weight was too much for may taste...height as well..
I would not be able to compare different systems and tell you which one is good/better for EC.

Height is no issue, my setup is 7mm higher that normal F2 without sliding mono plate.
By leaving out extra urethan disks under bindings it would be 3-4 mm higher than without plate.
