IMO, 859€ is a pretty reasonable price for a special kind of board like Swoard. Of course customs etc are all extra, but you have to pay them anyway when ordering something e.g from overseas.

The construction is not "classic" with simple sheets of Titanal (= alloy of aluminum), but much more complex. Note that metal is used in the ski industry for 30 years at least. Thus it is not so new and there is quite a lot of marketing made recently on metal.

Swoard does not follow the trends. Swoard creates them. ;-)
Whether this is in board concept or in ride technique. Because we make all this to have the best boards for ourselves above all, in the style of ride that we created. We are a small team which is free to make what it wants because we make it by passion, besides our other jobs and thus without financial constraints.

 The price of the model could be determined this summer already, on the basis of the hand-made stages and of the complexity (with regard to the "standard metal"). It was fixed to 859€ free of tax. For comparison the Extremecarver Gen4 is 639€ free of tax, and the Dual is 549€ free of tax.

We believe that this price for an innovative metal technology is very competitive with regard to all what is produced in Europe with metal. Our objective is to make our boards and EC accessible to everyone. In 2002-2003, we began a small production because people wanted to have the same protos as the ones shown in our photos and first EC videos. It is always the same flame and the same passion for snowboard which drives us. :D

The Swoard team
Patrice,
thanks for the update.

I noted that in the website it's not possible to select the model (Gen4 or Dual) for the online order.

How does the online order work?

Which is the price in CHF in Switzerland (i.e. Zurich)? and the delivery cost?

Thanks in advance
Alessandro

859€ agree. But probably collection in Zinal will not be possible. Would be nice to avoid expensive "add-ons" :D

No worries. This is past! :D
redhead wrote:859€ + 25% custom 215€ + custom handling 100€ + shipping 70€ = 1244€
pricey when sending to Norway
:naughty: The good news (this is also why there is some delay with the new boards) is that we changed all logistics and moved the small stock from Switzerland to France. So the boards are shipped in European Union with low shipping price and no custom taxes. The VAT is the French VAT (20% from 1st January) even if you are living in another European country.

 For all people in EU: 859€ + 29€ (shipping) + 20% (VAT) = 1066€ :D :bravo:
All included and delivered in 1-5 days in function of your location.

Shipping price is also 29€ for a delivery in Switzerland, but with 8% Swiss VAT.

All details for the rest of the world will be published soon. :chinese:

so, a single layer of titanal with laterally-oriented oval cutouts, filled with size-matched carbon fibre inserts? ;)

There is a great news about the customs tariffs for Canadians. :D
According to http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications ... 9-eng.html and http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/trade-commer ... 5-eng.html
"Effective April 1, 2013, tariff rates for all preferential tariff treatments have been reduced to "Free" for the following tariff items:"
Our code is 9506.11.90 (the first link) which includes snowboards (the second link).
Thanks to Rob from Toronto who has recently got a Swoard and shared his experience with me. :bravo:

More news here:  Important Swoard news > season 2014

As it is explained, one has to wait till mid-January for the Pro. :(
We did as fast as possible, but we can never anticipate the problems of other companies.
This is not so dramatic, winter is long, and there will be many other winters! ;-)
