To hire a car

Post by fivat » Wednesday 3 November 2004, 10:52

Hm... 6 persons it's a lot.

Yes, to hire a car is the only solution.

Well, you can choose a flight from Geneva to Sion with a small plane, but it's very expensive (Sion is a very small airport for rich skiers, 45 min away from Zinal ;-)). And then you need a car anyway. Taxis are very expensive too :-)

Hello Pokkis!

If you hire a minibus with driver for 6 pers it should cost ~1200 CHF two ways from airport to station.

Or you can hire a car directly from the airport but book it before!!

Try: http://www.avis.ch or http://www.hertz.ch or http://www.sixt.ch

I forgot to mention something, the price for the bus is for 5-7 people. Then for 8 to 13 peoples it will be 200.- CHF more.

Do you want me to ask in details for Zinal because this price is to go to the major ski resorts like Zermat, Sass fee. Zinal is in the same area but not displayed on the site?

Let me know...

I think we would need few more people to bus before it would make it economical compared to hiring car. But thanks for your help.
But if there are others needing transport on late Wednesday evening and returning on Monday evening, then it might come real option 8)

Hi Pokkis,
The experience from last year was that hiring a car with 3 persons had almost the same costs as public transportation (train+bus) for 3 persons. So hiring two cars for you six is an option. If you are member of a car driver union/auto union you will I have rebates at some care hire companies. This worked fine last year. We ended up with Europcar as far as I remember.
