I have read the thread about the new Mountain Slope hardboots here. Will it be possible to test?
Yes, as written:
Point .951 during the 15th ExtremeCarving Session in Zinal (27-28-29 January, 2018)
For this Swoard event in the past, we were used to invite Tooltonic because we are fans of these fantastic sharpening tools. We admire and support Jean-Bernard who created them.
In the same way it's natural that this year we invite Mountain Slope, and especially the genius designer (named Roger) who we admire for what he created more than 20 years ago, the legendary Northwave .900 and .950. He will be present with several demo pairs for the public at the stand (and on the snow too).
Roger has another job, so he could maybe not come before Saturday evening. We will probably open in this Forum a registration list for the interested people, so we could organize the Sunday tests.
The Swoard team
Unfortunately Roger won't be able to join us because his wife is going to hospital on Sunday evening.
In addition, because of ISPO in Munich, this is not ideal date for the rest of Mountain Slope team.
Anyway, we think it's better to wait for better liners in the future: all the tests we had with the original liners were not positive (foot pains for almost everybody). Most liners of other brands (like UPZ) don't match well the 951 shell which has a smaller volume...
Patrice will use his modified 951 during the event, so don't hesitate to ask him questions on the snow.

They have pre-groomed the "Barthélémy". Today at phone the guy told me that they need to let the snow "breathe" and settle down. So they can pack it then better.
On Saturday they will open "Durand" and "Barthélémy". It could be soft on that day. That's why we will ride rather "Le Col" and "La Face".
Note that some ski racers will use "La Face" on Monday, so "Barthélémy" will be an excellent substitute, with super snow.
The timing is perfect!
One week before, on Sunday and Monday the resort was closed!

Sorry, Matti, didn't see your post. I arrived in Zinal, no issues with the roads, which were mostly clear. But, there is still a lot of snow in the village itself, so it must have been a huge dump before!!
Is anyone else already here, to ride tomorrow?
I also plan to do some video this year, I have a gimbal with an assortment of cameras. I am looking for "volunteer subjects" to develop a chase Cam view. Haven't really done it on a carving board, but I found my Gen4 very flexible, even in deep powder in Verbier 2 weeks ago, so I left the Dual at home this time.
I also have a 18-200 lens on a Sony for more conventional video. Looking to scope out the vantage points tomorrow.
cheers,
Colin

Hi all
A bit of an experiment.
Here is a general What's App group to join, for any questions, meet-ups etc:
https://chat.whatsapp.com/EAgp7ted1GADOuOjD5XIbG
I will of course make organisers admin if they wish, or take it down at their request.
This group is 'open', so usual guidelines apply:
Don't spam
No verbal abuse
Update: So we can identify each other, please add your name in WhatsApp Profile config, so we see it next to your phone number
etc
cheers,
Slayer

Advisable to bring a powder board for tomorrow indeed for those who have one
But as stated previously, Extremecarver would also work it is wide
I will bring an extra Magistral 185 for those who want to try :=)
But the forecast seems to have changed a bit, not sure it will snow so much today in Zinal. Strange because we are under heavy rain in Lyon area! Can people already in Zinal confirm the weather during the day
(amount of snow
thnx)

I’m in Chandolin right now and can’t ride because I have to go to the dentist
Sky is covered, no rain or snow yet.
... and nothing else matters !

No snow fall at all today (or only 1 cm in the night), and sun will be back on Saturday for the entire Session!
It will be perfect for extremecarving. People who absolutely want to track some powder, there are some virgin places at the "Durand" which will open on Saturday.
But in 1 hour everything will be tracked...
See you!
