volkl selecta 168 2008/2009 and nidecker legend 168 2012

Post by smolix » Monday 29 August 2011, 22:55

Hi!
in order to get me a groomers fun carver 4 softies that i could also use for powder and backcountry tours,
i look towards Volkl Selecta 168 fror 08/09 and Nidecker LEGEND 168 year 2012. ill get the Selecta for 300 euro normal price and the Legend for 400 euro apx, almost trade price .my other boards are a Nidecker freestyle board and Nidecker Megalight camrock 163 from 2011.
i think i would like a cambered board again in my quiver(I use to ride Megalights since 2004) and i think these two options are ok. My bindings for the new board is apair of carbon 900.
Any tips or recommendations about these two boards will be very helpfull....as none of my friends has these two boards to give a try!
thnx in advance for any replys... :D :D
my weight is 74 kg,my boot size 27,boarding for 20+ years alpine and all mountain...sorry if iam off topic! :evil3:

Smolix,

I used to have Selecta 175 couple of years ago. IMHO, it was rather average board for softboot carving. The one thing I did not like about it was the weight: it was rather heavy board. However, you get used to it pretty quickly. But if you like light-weight boards, think twice. Or at least try it at first.

Don't take any risks and buy Swoard Dual. It will serve you good on piste and off piste. :chinese:

hi Whitey!thnx for reply.ill chekout your suggestion.should be a board that fullfill 60% backcountry steeps and deeps and 40% groomers funcarving.
i am living in Greece now and the lenght ,width and steepness is not deserving to pay for a pure carver.there is a lot to enjoy in backcountry and some really good powder days..20+ :D
i thing Legend 168 or something with similar carachter will suit my needs.i know SWORD,never ridden one but there is a problem or maybe two.there is no importer in Greece and the prices are over my budget as we are three in the family now...
all the best i apriciate your reply! :D :D

Smolix,

occasionally there has been Swoard Duals on on Classification section for very reasonable price. According to your post, it would be perfect board for your needs, because it is incredible versatile board.

The specs are available here:
