Snow and weather forecast for the Zinal event

Post by István » Friday 14 January 2005, 11:56

Guys,

I thought it would be useful to follow up on this topic in the next 2 weeks before we all leave to the event.

Anyone has any personal experience from the last 1-2 days on the snow conditions in Zinal?

Kindest,

István

weather forecast

Post by SoepmasterJ » Friday 14 January 2005, 16:05

Well, lets keep it: "hopefully it will snow on wednesday!" for now. The famous Zinal slopes closed today 8O . I'm watching the rain out of the sky, but it's still uncommonly warm and sunny here (Holland, rain->often snow in the Alpes a day later) :(

Today, the temperature has dropped here in Belgium.
I saw on the internet that the temperature in the alps has also dropped below zero.
Now, all it's has to do is a bit of snow.

I also saw that a lot of pistes are actually closed in Zinal :wall:

I will :pray2: to God, Jahwe and Allah (I hope it will help)

Last weather forecast

Post by fivat » Saturday 15 January 2005, 20:09

Good news: it could snow a lot from Wednesday and Thursday...
The specialists also say that the quantity could be more than 1 meter :D
But the violent winds could play a role.

Well, now they have changed their forecast... :-(
It should be 50 cm in the week... maximum. We'll see.

To bad, but forecasts for the mountains are always difficult

Everybody is disappointed, (so I'm I) but there is little we can do

If you zoom in, you can see there is an orange/red area near the border of Switserland that is comming from France.
Then the clock stops at 22h15.
So I think the snow will fall tomorrow.

But after that, there's nothing left of snow I think

Nice site this meteo24
