Nice Burton's

Post by Hans » Monday 13 December 2004, 10:24

Hi, Frunobulax,

Nice boards. Burton never went away from the Alpinemarket. In Japan they were always present (and popular) with new boards. Also in the USA they were available. But it's nice that they are available in Europe now. Seems alpineboarding is becoming more popular in Europe. Due to this site and SWOARD/EC, POGO, VIRUS, F2 and other (new) brands who sticked to alpineboarding??? Well, it certainly helps a lot.

Think Burton, Sims and Santa Cruz started the alpine market in the early days if I can remember well. My first alpinedeck 14 years ago was a Burton.

Greets, Hans.

Hi,

If I'm correctly informed, just as Hans said, Burton produced alpin boards for asian market, but not under Burton trademark, but #17. It seems that blue-tomato imported those goods (perhaps not even that, because Burtons factory is in Austria). There is no alpine stuff od Burton's webpages or anywhere else on the net, Blue-Tomato doesn't present any specs of R17 board and they only have one length, 185cm! That's a bit long. I hope it is not one time deal with the board they got out of factory's leftover stock! :?

But if Burton's really back, it's definetly good news for alpine snowbording! I had Burton snowboard Factory Prime asy and was very satisfied with it!

Bye,

Jakob

I knew that there were Burton R17 boards for the asian market but it makes things a lot easier if blue tomato imports them. I got a newsletter from b.t. where they say that SL (!) boards are limited stock so if one wants an SL boards he should order quickly. On the HP there are no signs of SL boards but maybe the b.t. guys can imports also the other lengths of the GS boards (?).

I had a factory prime myself which I still would say was one of the best boards I've ever ridden.

Too long? A raceboard can never be too long!

...but unfortunately already sold out...

I just asked blue tomato to test a burton and they stated that the R17 is already sold out

Can you imagine where to get a R17 somewhere else in the Alps?

Wow! This info is really interesting... A good sign, which Burton should understand about Europe!

I'm personnaly boycotting Burton since they have adopted the 3D system, instead of rejoining the 4x4 movement... Their marketing policy on this subject was also very obscure ( besides cashing $$ in) and not "sport" friendly so....I'm also not a fan of companies leaving the sinking ship that alpine was a few years ago... I'm pretty sure they'll be back in a few years after observing what small brands do and trying to get their huge share of the alpine market once again... But this time people are more aware and Internet makes alpine consumers more curious....

You young radicals are always against all big authorities
Anyway, if you like to use Burton board but prefer still use F2 bindings 8) here is some pics how it can be done with very minor cost and work.
All work and design done by domo, thanks :bravo:

Burton does not even support as many world-cup riders any more.
Their quality is supposed to suck nowadays.

Sigi Grabner is this season not riding on Burton anymore but on his "selfmade" board, whatever this means and whoever has made it. Or has anyone seen a satisfied boarder on a new Burton raceboard?
