Bindings/boots question

Post by matrix187 » Saturday 4 September 2010, 7:01

Hello All !

I'm experienced freerider.
Current snowboard: Elan Vertigo 2007 model

Thinking of updating binding and boots.
Looking for high performance , specially on deep snow
Tried many boots before - I know that VERY hard boots are not for me
Less important for jumps
No freestyle (hate it)

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

Hello matrix187!

Welcome to the forum!

I am not sure I understand your question correctly ... Are you looking for hardboots (plus plate bindings) for powder? Or are you searching for a pair of softboots (plus soft bindings)?

For "deep snow" softboots are much better suited normally.

Sorry for not mentioning it

Sure I need softboots and soft bindings

I've tried Burton Driver X , but these where too much for me

Alright :D
The softboots market is so big that it is very hard to make a suggestion. It depends on your preferences (where do you mainly ride, stiffer/softer, etc.) and the shape of your feet (the fit of the boots). The same is true for bindings and they must also fit your preferred boots.

I love soft bindings which are comfortable, but also very responsive. Therefore I use "stiffer" bindings. The last few years I was on Burton CO2s. Because of the good responsiveness they are also the favorites of many boardercross riders (along with the Burton C60 which is even stiffer).

For boots I have used "ordinary" freestyle boots (Burton SL9 and 10 and some others). This year I will try a stiffer model for riding on slopes ... not sure yet which ones.

As I said at the beginning, your question is hard to answer. Maybe if you give more details about your preferences and your riding style, you would get some more precise suggestions ...

Thanks for your help man !

Well, as for my preferences - I'm aggressive rider that looking for high response.
Mainly I do a lot of off-piste, I don't like freestyle.
If on piste - I like high speed (sometimes +/- 100km/h).

Not sure my English is good enough to describe my self :(

The board I use currently ( Elan Vertigo ) is described as for border-cross and free ride , one of the hardest on market

I did a lot of border-cross runs - LOVE IT

Most important for me is high performance and durability of equipment I use

I've tried one of the most "stiffer" boots ( Burton Driver X) but found them too hard/stiff for me. So I guess for boots - I need softer solution

I hope that helps ....

Thanks again
