3D Burton insert system problem

Post by rrozz » Wednesday 3 February 2010, 21:23

Hi there,
I've already bought some new Burton Speed 05' or 06' (whatever). It appeared that i would have some problems with mounting my Drake bindings. Burton as usual has 3D system, whereas my bindigns go with a weird way of installing, which enables to put in only 2 screws. I mean they have no changeable disc, but they are fixed to the metal plate that, i hope, can be change. Can u suggest any way of sorting it out, cos i dont wanna buy new bindings for now. I simply can't affort it. Here are some pics:

Only 3D disks fit on those boards. Otherwise you need to drill some extra holes in your binding to fit the pattern.

Or buy some (cheap) 3d burtonbindings on ebay.de

That means that if binding mount system is not based on changable disc, it is unable to mount them on the Burton, unless u drill some new holes?! The 3D burton binding are made of plastic what means they wont survive, because of my weight. Aren't there any universal switch beetween 3D and 4x4?

No, the only 3D bindings on the market are those IBEX bindings (former Burton) and bindings from Bomber with a 3D disk. Burton boards aren't being made anymore, only those japanes things.

It's your bindings that are normal, Burton is 'weird'. My friend had the opposite problem (installing Burton bindings to a 4x4 board), he drilled additional holes. It holds but I would not be happy about it (having broken 2 pairs of SnowPro Race). I'd find a binding that fits.

All Burton Speed boards are from 2003. There are no more Burton alpine boards, not even for the Japanese market. They ended in 2005.

I would not buy any old cheap Burton bindings on ebay, but the Ibex is a proven design (baseplate is metal). That would be the best option for you at the moment, although the 3d discs are not included! But it is not really a problem to get such discs ...
