Any thoughts on sidewinder cants with DUAL /Prior ATV ???

Post by docrob » Monday 11 January 2010, 20:50

Result!
Thanks leeho! Maybe I'll start with zero;3 then.
How do you walk normally? I tend to wear the rear outside corner of my shoes on both feet, and the soles to the outside, and as I said; duck out 15 with both... but not knocked. Seems like I must be a bit bowed though in the knee.
I have 2 airport changes out to the US in Feb (DUH!), so bound to hit delays, and only 5 days for boarding. I'm trying to resolve a starting setup so I can hit the groomers after 5 hours sleep and mounting the winders over breakfast. It's my last chance this year. Plus NH conditions/resort slow the learning curve anyway.
Missing the usual Alpine trip at easter this year to climb rock in AZ, so Feb has to count from the getgo!

Funny, I also wear out the rear sole on the outside.

Docrob, I think you're normal, and in fact, ducking out 15 degrees on both feet is considered normal. If you think you're bowlegged, try googling and look at some of the images...

Thanks for the video Hans!

Received :D

Fits quite well, but I'm using size 25 boots and for the heel part I'm using the shortest setting towards the centre of the baseplate! So for those using size 24 or smaller... you're (almost) out of luck!

Also, with this setup, I have to screw out one of the sole block in order to detatch baseplate from the cant disk... not so convenient. :x

But I still can't wait to try this on snow!

Anyone out there who tested the TD SW recently (maybe in Zinal?) and could post some feedback? I'm interested in the ExtremeCarving aspects of it and how it improved you riding.

Thanks

already posted feedback on the SW
basically its designed for EC!
a bit high, a bit heavy, but strong and efficient.

Thanks Nils, I have read that back then. I was just hungry for some more feedback and hoped that some might have already received and tested his / her SW.

Oke, and what's your opinion regarding video's ?
Because if I understand well, SW were developped for Racing, and in fact most of guys who buy them will do some freecarving...

I'm really impressive by the lateral flex with soft pads (yellow)

Like Nils said, the almost ultimate solution for not breaking bails anymore.
You get some more height and more weight. But why should a freecarver care for more weight?

I will wait till there will be a SW Intec/stepin

The lateral flex seems to have boot out earlier too.

sidewinder stepin mod

Post by b0ardski » Monday 15 March 2010, 22:56

this thread by oldsnowboards on BOL should be of interest here
http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/s ... winder+mod

I'm old (48) out of shape & lazy so I love my stepins (older Nitros, not intec)
Since I have six pairs of Nitros I'm considering adding the stepin heel bracket to sidewinders so that I don't have to convert to fintec.
like the idea of lateral flex built into the binding, I plan to use the stiffer flex pads.

Nils sorry, but could you explain why it is designed for EC? We remove all lifts to be closer to the board, and having rubber under the sole of the boot reduces power transmission. I do not see the advantage of lateral flex for EC honestly. Besides, if you want a little lateral flex you can just use a plastic front leverage instead of the metal one, which, by the way is VERY BAD for the plastic of the boots, and considering the value of our NW I would not risk using it.
