Well....T-Bar itself isn´t that bad...but some of them are so long - you stay in there for about 15 to 20min!!!

But i think there are some plans to build new lifts in Pitztal - they are trying to get the money  but they haven´t got anything yet.

The surrounding in Pitztal is quite nice.... :clap3:

Webcam of Sölden was quite nice this morning :clap2:

HAVE FUN!!!!

Sölden

Post by István » Wednesday 22 September 2004, 8:50

Guys, instead of talking, who wants to join?

The worst thing that can happen (in case no snow comes) is that we'll be limited to the 2 blue slopes, we do a couple of runs in the morning and then we'll discover the wonders of the local hütte  (glühwine, jagatee, willy, vodka feuge, germknödel, gulasch, etc... sorry for my spelling in German) and we enjoy the sun over 3000m.

Is that so bad? :P

Kindest,

István

Change in program

Post by István » Wednesday 22 September 2004, 14:55

Guys, since everyone is telling me that there is not enough snow at Sölden, we have changed the plan to Tux (Hintertuk, Zillertal).

So, if anyone wants to join us, you are welcome.

Cheers,

István

Hi,

usually I was going to Kitzsteinhorn near Kaprun. This year I'd like to try some other place. So I have a few question concerning Sölden, if You can help me with those.

1. The Gleitscher road. Is there some kind of public bus service?
2. How many ppl is over there usually? In waiting times ? IN Kaprun it takes about 40 minutes to get from the absolute bottom to the riding area.
3. As I understood there is a possibility to rent hard stuff over there (I have my own, but i'm always brining newbies :)

Anything else that might seem useful? Tips, hints?

Planing to go there in March for about two/three weeks...

Thank You.

Hoi there,

to answer your questions:

The area is quite big - all kind of slopes. On the glacierroad is a shuttle service - but if you want to go there in march, it´s the best to go from the sking area to the glacier (its more fun and lifts in the winter area are opening earlier :bravo: ).
How to get up: There are two lifts going to the winter area - road to the glacier. If you don´t party too much and get up in the morning on times, good carvers should get up ( :evil2: ) you will have NO problems with waiting time....from 10 on I can´t tell....we allways get up with some of the first lifts possible.
I think there are several shops for renting equipment - one (Sport Riml) is directly at the TiefenbachGletscher. You can get everything, from Virus to F2....all Softboot stuff too.....

That´s it - hope I could help :alien:
Have fun

Hintertux

Hey,

Back from Tux. You can regret that you guys have missed it. Friday was a bit cloudy and foggy, but Saturday, Sunday were sunny and bright.

We had like 70cm snow, and some fresh snow from Saturday. Slopes were far from perfect (not well groomed, some icy spots and too soft in the afternoon) but it was OK as a season opening...

On Sunday I was pretty early out on the slopes and had a few good runs on one of the blueish, redish slopes. Far from real EC (not steep enough) but at least I could do fast linked race-style turns and a few laid turns just to test the board.

Not much to tell about the board itself yet, first I had to get used to the width, then I had to find the right angle (55 50 was too low for me), but it felt ok. I need more testing and better conditions to have a fair view on the board. What I can say at the moment is that the board has very sudden and strong reactions (not much pushing is needed) and also a good edge grip, even in soft, melt snow.

Anyway, we had a good time a lots of fun.

Cheers,

István

some question about your first time with the Me109:

You're saying, that there is not much to say about the board. I think that's right, a statement given too early is not very helpful. But there might be some thoughts already. Did you ever testride a SWOARD? Did you ever rida another high quality board except the SP? In which way did you find your binding angulation? How did you set the am last?

My way to set bindings may help you: At first I place the rear binding with the lowest angulation possible (without boot overhang = 0). I fix it and place the front binding without tinghtening the screws. Now I get into my bndings with my boots on my feet... The front foot will find the perfect binding angulation ;)

I'm planning to go to Pitztal or Sölden (maybe even Tux, but I don't know this resort at all) 6th to 8th ov November. But it still depends on the snowfall until then! Interested to join?

Söldan accident

Post by István » Monday 15 November 2004, 16:31

I'm just reading the news on a Hungarian site, it reports that there was an accident in Sölden, one empty cabin lift felt dow to the precipice so the lift was stopped.

133 skiers were rescued from the other cabins, all safe and sound. The rescue took them 8 hours. Due to the heavy wind no helicopters could help them, thus skiers were escaped by a rope one by one. It was dark and -20 C during the rescue, skiers were almost freezing.

Holy shit!

István

ps.: Anyone heard of it?
