BURTON WIND Boots - any good?

Post by goofyfoot53 » Wednesday 11 November 2009, 8:14

As some of you know, I’m new to the forum and new to carving. My biggest problem is finding a way to try on boots. A pair of Burton Wind hard boots have appeared on eBay at a place called isoldit. This is a consignment shop where people who want to sell on eBay but can’t figure out how to do it can take things and have them sold for a fee. They have locations all over California. I was hoping this was the one near my house but it is not. It is in Pasadena, which is about 20-25 miles away. Still, I can go there and actually try them on. This may be my only chance to get an idea of what these type of boots feel like.

The size is somewhat uncertain. The description says that, “The previous owner wears size 9.5-10 shoes,” and “The interior is marked 27.5-29 (62).” Also, “The . . . liner is . . .marked 275 on the back spine, and DX 3 on the front tongue.” The claim is that they have only been used twice but they’re pretty scratched up, which implies more usage. Oddly, they’re scratched up a lot on the inner side, as if someone used them as ski boots. They probably mean that the last owner only used them twice but I’m sure someone used them before that.

Anyway, can anyone tell me anything about the boots and how they fit, perform, etc. Are these worth my going to look at and try on? Can anyone tell what the actual size is based on what the ad says?

They also have a Burton Original Sin 170 cm snowboard with Burton race bindings. Anyone know anything about that board or those bindings? Thanks for any info.

The boots and liners are for feet that are about 275mm long (mondo 27.5). Never rode 'em.

I've been really happy with my Winds, rode them until they broke down completely (toe piece cracked eventually).
Fits my foot way better than any Deeluxe boot. Works with Intec too.

I figured they were 27.5 but the 29 threw me. Although I use 27.5 ski boots, my foot actually measures just a hair over 28.0, so my toe hits the end. Since I am leaning forward when skiing, I can take it. However, would this work in hard snowboard boots? Would I be able to get away with a 27.5 or will I need to move up to a 28-28.5 shell? I will be able to go try these on but I have to wait till the weekend.

I found another boot listed by accident, a Raichle 724 that the seller say is size 10.5-11. I asked for the mondo size but he didn’t know what that was. After I explained it and gave him suggestions on where to find it on the boot, he emailed me and said he cannot find any numbers on the boot anywhere. Does anyone know where the size is marked on that boot and what is your opinion of the boot? Thanks.
