Silber: Many thanks. That is nice of you.
Starikashka: TD2 bails bend and finally break. That is not only mine experience.

"do it yourself" bails?

Post by AZ » Monday 6 April 2009, 21:17

The other day, while bicycling around, I spotted a shop that sells all kinds of stainless steel stuff.
Including rods of various lengths and diameter.
Just in case, I bought a 6 mm rod - mostly because it looked "nice".

Now the question: how does one bend it in the same shape as the heel bails?
A vice and hammering away with passion?
A vice and bend it with a (big) pair of pliers?
Heat it to red hot first?
(should I forget the entire project? especially since my bails have not failed yet - and I got a spare front and a spare back from Whitey in Zinal during the last ECS)

And advice on how to became a metal worker will be appreciated.

Ciao to all.

Forget about it, it`s too hazardous :-) Much more harmful than riding Swoard on black slope.

Silber,
I have checked the Settimo Sport site. If I understand it correctly it says in Italian that the 5,4mm bails are sold out. Hopefully, those bails will be produced for the next season. This season is almost over anyway. Thanks.
