maybe rotation is more important than push-pull, good rotation can lay you down without any attempt to incline )Excarving, would be good if you can make a video with higher speed.erik wrote:Indeed, I can see rotation but no push pull
Somebody knows the technical explanation for this technique?

I think that push-pull is the key of extreme carving, also the rotation... but you need both!
So the remark about push&pull is right, but the video is very good and I'm a fan of excarving user because He have realized many video and this the best way to improve the style and share knowledge about the ec style!

Great... I allways like to see your videos and images. I also like the very smooth
style of Yeon Soo (surely better than mine !).
An advice : dont rotate totaly your shoulder at the begining of your turns. To start a turn, make only a "half rotation", so you behave the other half to go with your board for the rest of the turn. And dont forget to wait until the end of your turn to begin the next "half" rotation. A last advice : if you look at Patrice or Jacques style, they make a small shoulder rotation at the end of their turns to help the board go from frontside to backside.
Perhaps am-I to perfectionist. Is not having fun by laying down the most important ???

I do not totaly agry with you erik. Ok, Yeon Soo do not use the push pull. But he makes counter-rotations in lots of his extremecarving turns, expecialy Frontside. One reason could be that he rotate his shoulders totaly at the beginning of most of his the turns. Then, he has no possibility to rotate his shoulders more and go with the board. That's why he need to open his shoulder during lots of his turns.erik wrote:Indeed, I can see rotation but no push pull

P/S - I already askes same question but nobody replied
rotation is important at first because help you to avoid counter-rotation, the momentum force provide by rotation help you to do a turn and to keep the body in a right position during the turn, so rotation is very important.
On a steep slope you have to work much with legs, first you make the edge transition uphill and you need to stay down with your body and pulled, second you have to make force on the edge because on steep slope you will take immediately a lot of speed so you need to push (no push no strength) remember that at this step the board is behind you so your weight doesn't help you and so how do you think to put pressure on the edge?
you need to push much
...and eventually when the board comes in front of you, to avoid skidding (because of too much pressure...now your weight is on the board), you have to begin to pull for the next transition...so i think that if you don't make a good push&pull movement you can't do ec on steeps slopes without skidding and lost the edge
P.S
pay attention to the video of P&J and look how much push and pull they do during the turns!

Here is a good example of carving by using pushing technique (only pushing during the start of the turn) http://www.michaeldreusicke.de/videos/s ... -Musik.avi. The result is that between each turns, he makes a jump. Lots of style too, just not the same like Jacques or Patrice. The transition between the turns are mutch longer with the push technique. By pulling your board, your body is low on the snow and you "just" have to extand you slowly to lay down. Advantage : no shock by falling and smothness in the movement.
In that video, he seems to use a form of "no rotation" technique.
I like this video. But I want to ride cool (slower than the guy on the video) and to lay down totaly my turns. That's wy I try to use the push-pull and the rotation like Jacques and Patrice recommended.

Alex, thanks. So, you mean that guy on the excarving video will skidding if he will ride on the steeper slope? He do not using push-pull.
I`ve looked P&J videos many times, frame by frame and noticed that Patrice bendig the legs very low, but Jaques not. That confuses me a little And the push-pull video that placed on the site does not helpful.
