In preparations for publishing ECS pictures I started to think about image size: currently most of images in my web site are 900x600 (if in landscape orientation), but in order to provide better quality I thought that maybe I can go bigger?
Here are my main considerations for image size:
1. navigation links and image should fit into page without scrolling (or minimum scrolling) and image should be as big as possible. Some space should be left on top for browser menus/title bar.
2. I'd like to retain 3:2 ratio in case of landscape orientation and use 4:3 ratio in case of portrait orientation.
So if most of people use 1600x1200 screens or bigger, then it may be reasonable to use image size 1500x1000 or 750x1000 (for portrait orientation), if 1024x768 (or 1280x1024 or 1280x800) screens are used, then I'd convert images to size 900x600.
So quick poll for screen size, which is used by you (or how big images you want to see, if scrolling is no problem).

Yes, 1200 seems to be good for 2/3rd of viewers. So my pics will be 1200x800 (1.7 times bigger as previously
. And my laptop is 1280x800, so it almost fits there as well
Poll done, "thank you" to all the participants. Hopefully bigger images are better
, let's see them when I'm uploaded.
