Carving newbie advice - board & instructor/school opinio

Post by kumimajava » Thursday 10 January 2008, 16:53

Hi guys,

After having a break of 6 years (for various medical, non-snowboarding related reasons), i'm returning to snowboarding this winter (Livigno, in March) :)

prior to that, I was riding on softboots for 6 years, but now that i'm back, I'd like to try carving.

So I would like your guys' advice on two things:

1) The board - ideally, i'm looking for something that I could get 2nd hand, from inside the EU - I don't have a huge budget. My dimensions are:

Height: 184 cm
Weight : 85 kg (usually a bit less :)
Boot size: 28 MP (UK size 10)

My current softboot board (bought 7 years back) is Burton Custom 59, with Airwalk Freeride boots.

I've spent ages reading through BOL, and posts on this website (all very helpful - thanks :) ) , but much of that advice is person - specific. If you'd have moment to fire off your recommendations for me, I'd be glad.

2) Carving school/instructor: I called the snowboard school at livigno, and they said they have instructors riding plates - so I should be fine.

However, if any of you guys would have someone you know/would particularly recommend, please let me know.

Thanks in advance,
Daniel
