What about Hot Snowboards?

Post by landScape » Friday 14 December 2007, 10:15

Has anybody news about Hot snowboards or has this traditional race board factory died without anybody taking care of it?

Once taken over by Rossignol and sold last year there is no more blast now!

Is that true? The Hammer site http://www.hammersnowboards.com/Site/index.html (despite being turned into some horrible and utterly un-navigatable POS that fucks my browser over good & proper) still lists the Blast 161SL and 168GS, but looks like they are last year's models.

I confirm that you can still buy you Blast in French shops. HOT continues to produce them in 161 and 168 length. They are wonderful boards for carving ! But it is less easy to find than F2. Ask to your shop to order one if you want it

The Hot Blast is still being produced by Hammers Snowboards in their spanish factory. Development of the boards however has basically stopped.
I used to be a huge fan of the Hot Blast, but I'm not any more after buying the 2005/06 178cm model in. I have to say that I was not happy with that board. Constuction is very good but the nose design is completely wrong (the nose is too round and too long). After one season I switched back to my older Blast which is still a great board.
So before buying a Hot Blast I would recommend testing it.

Cheers

Won't be long anymore I think.
I've heard rumors Rossignol Snowboard Division might be shut down completely. I allways preferred Rossignol WRC (the mighty yellow ones) over any Blast.

At least for my small weight, every single Blast was far too stiff, and I've seen many many intermediate riders suffering from the stiffness of Blast race boards to the point that they stopped alpine carving and switched back to skis, or only went boarding 2-3 days a year. Really old Hot boards might have been great, but what they've thrown out on the market during the last 5-6 years was not at all to MY liking.
