Hi guys. I was in Alta Badia and Val Gardena a few weeks ago and i must say that this two areas are one of the best areas for carving in Dolomites. The slopes are wide, long and steep. Also the infrastructure (ski lifts etc.) is very good.
Does anyone has experiences with other areas in Italy? I am planning to go to Livigno in March.

Italy hmmm!
Actually I skied once in Courmayeur and it is nice for carving; but the nicest part is the girls taking sunbathes in swimsuits in the restaurants
More seriously Alagna is the equivalent of La Grave, Chamonix and Zinal for the quality of the freeride!

Milosh--
We LOVE Val Gardena, and we were there about 5 times in 7 years, coming all the way from the U.S. every time.
I prefer is in September for hiking & climbing (a bit only--nothing too dangerous) rather than in the winter. But we've been there twice in the winter, and we loved it! Maily for the spectacular scenery--I mean what can top Sassolungo or Sella?
I've seen heli skiing from Sella down the chutes, that was the most extreme in an otherwise mostly intermediate skiing area. Not sure whether you can board down the chutes---if you can, certainly not with hard boots and a speed needle!

Carving in Italy
There is a nice spot in Colfosco for EC - Silber (Francesco) showed me. Also Corvara (the next village to Colfosco) has nice slopes.
My favourite is Livigno, althoug not that beautiful place as the Dolomites, but really good slopes.
Cheers,
Istvan
