This is only the beginning of December and we got a lot of snow in the Alps!
It was planned for the 10 years of Swoard and the 10th Swoard ExtremeCarving Session!
France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany, ... all areas in West Europe have got unusual quantities.
I wonder what is the situation elsewhere?
How is it in Nordic countries? East Europe? Russia? Canada? USA?

Which resorts exactly? I have been in Scotland last summer and could not resist to go see two resorts!
The one in the Glen Coe ("Meall à Bhuiridh", top at 1108m) and Cairngorm Mountain (top at 1097 m). I shot these two pictures.
How is it in winter? How much snow usually? Not too crowded?

actually glenshee won't open just yet, but the Lecht, Glencoe, Nevis Range and Cairngorm are all open now.
the snow cover can be quite variable, but when it's good, it's very good fun. don't go at the weekend.
not really a lot of scope for proper carving, more all-mountain and creative terrain use. Nevis Range has a very long steep run called the 'goose' which is probably the best we have for carving here. looks similar to that favourite in Zinal.
this was cairngorm last sunday;

The local Oslo-slopes opened last week and the longer slopes (1500 m) will open at Friday. The largest mountain resorts in Southern Norway have been open since beginning of November.

Which area of Canada? At your place in Toronto? How is it in BC? And Quebec?
Last week-end in Zinal was amazing: so much powder, light but with good bearing. This is totally unusual on 8th December, and this is for sure the promise of a great season!

We have some great ridable snow now in Ontario. And we have plenty of it in Quebec starting from December.

4 of the 5 ski centres in Scotland were shut all weekend due to high winds causing the snow to drift. So I thought I'd hoof-up and try some grass and rock snowboarding, on a lower but wind scoured hill. Next week is going to be epic in Scotland. I can't believe how lucky we have been,

I'm getting boring now as here's another pic of yesterday's snow conditions at my local slope

which is about 3 miles further north from last pics above.
