Polish Carving Session - 7th & 8th of January 2012 - Poland
1. WHERE:
7th and 8th of January 2012 in Białka Tatrzańska in Poland. It’s a pretty decent ski resort located in the Tatra mountains.
http://www.bialkatatrzanska.pl/
http://www.bialkatatrzanska.pl/osrodki- ... lnica.html
It's about 20km from Zakopane and 86km from Cracow. I'm sorry they don't have an english site, pleas use google translate. Feel free to ask me any questions if you are interested in coming…
2. WHY:
Because we want you to become better! We aim at carving ability, especially EC style. Yes, we will teach you how! But you need to be able to at least carve on your own. It is aimed at moderate and higher level snowboarders.
3. SLOPE:
There will be a slope reserved exclusively for the event, closed off to other skiers. It will probably be run nr. 9, but it might be possible that it could be nr. 14 (you can a map in the second link). This is moderate slope good for practicing.
One can enter the reserved slope if:
- you bought a skipass for the mountain We do not have any discount but the current price is about 22 euro for one day. http://www.bialkatatrzanska.pl/cenniki.html
- you are able to carve and leave an “S” in the snow,
- you are, of course, carving on a snowboard,
- you have registered on this list: http://www.snowboard.pl/forum/msg.php?t ... =23210&a=a
(if You want to come, please send me an e-mail at abrax@swoard.com and I will place You on the polish list )
- you bought a PCS pass , it costs about 4,5 euro and can be bought at the slope from me (we do not make money on this, we will give you an ID with a specific number and a sticker, the rest of the collected money will be spent in the pub during the evening party)
4. CLASSES:
There will be classes offered for EC and general carving (more race oriented), headed by two kick-ass instructors, Szaman (general carving) and szaman.t (EC).
5. DEMOS:
There will be an opportunity to test boards by F2, Virus and SG. And maybe even a surprise visit by a new face in the snowboard scene. If you want to test a board, just ask me and I will let you know what to do.
6. MEETING/”PARTY”:
We start at 8 p.m. , exact info coming soon...
7. ACCOMMODATION

Finally after having a worst possible weather forecast, about 40 people has come to Polish Carving Session. I was a bit disappointed because we had 60+ persons on the list just a day before the event.
It was the third meeting and finally we've done it, completely fresh people did arrive. The feedback was very positive as we've made our best to help people with their basic problems in carving, riding position and gear dilemmas. Classes were organized, photos made, limbo snowboard played
Fantastic Czech friends came, true carvers with unbelievable stories of making handcrafted snowboards in 80's !
Great evening party with a special surprising lemon vodka... So much positive energy, so many positive vibrations, so much to say...
Check this ->
And consider to come to PCS4 in January 2013

Thanks Abrax, Shaman and others for organizing the event and the rest for just being there. It was awesome.
Coincidentially, it was also the biggest ever skwal meeting in Poland. There were 3 out of the whole 5 there...
Let PCS never die!

I also want to give a big thank you to Abrax and the other PCS organizers. It was incredible meeting so many different people, and I dont only mean different riding style, equipment and alpine experience, but people from different backgrounds, different outlooks... plus the opportunity to test the newest boards from Virus and F2.
The alpine snowboard community is continually growing and growing in Poland and no wonder, out of a population of 40 million people that loves winter sports I'm sure there are quite a lot of people who would be interested in riding in hardboots. There was a lot of interest among skiers and snowboarders at the ski resort, nonstop people were asking us questions.
So I think that 40+ people showing up is a great accomplishment, I think in a few more years we'll have 100 people or more coming.
