Here is more info.

This board is an outline copy of the Swoard 2005-2006 and made in a Chinese way without our authorization (thus illegally). It is not bad on the snow because the outline of the Swoard had already been proven to be great: for example by Duret, after their factory bankrupt in 2004 (only the name survived), who was the first to copy the outline. But:
- The outline is only ONE parameter and is contributing to less than 33% of the board performances.
- The copy attempts have not the ATC Matrix technology, which tunes the distribution of torsional stiffness accurately. In this way the Swoard can carve at any angulations, and also perfectly at 90° (the edge nearly vertical to the surface of the piste) what is the real technological challenge. It is possible to lay down on frontside with a door or any snowboard ;-) but the Swoard is a dream for the easiness and the smoothness it gives, as well as on the backside and in linking the laid turns (armpit to armpit).
- The extremecarving specialists (about EC-shaping and EC-riding) are riders working at Swoard, not at Virus which has been only narrow boards specialist for ages.
- We stopped working with Virus because of quality problems: tens of boards delaminated (in the feet area and not repairable) or were not constructed as asked. We also had big delivery delays till 3 months! Now it's a dream to work with serious professionals in the Swiss factory of Nidecker.
- For a better price, the Swoard is a quasi custom board in a choice among 3 sizes and 5 flexes (!!). It's crucial that the board matches your height and, above all, your weight if you want no limitation in your progression.

Sorry if I'm too frank and too direct here, but I'm sensitive about bad ethics and opportunist behaviors. It's a shame to even copy the model name: "X-treme carver" is equivalent to "extremecarver"! It says a lot about Virus' way to innovate. Hopefully there are many riders who care about good ethics as well as riding the original which is kicking ass, now with the Generation 3. 8)

More info here too.
