Ciao Italian Carvers,

I'm sorry to use English in this topic but my Italian is not very good (yet). Anyhow, I would need some advices and recommendations from you.

I'm planning to move to Italia with my girlfriend during next season, maybe right from the start of 2008. We will stay there maybe for 3 months (January, February and March). We haven't yet decided our location. We have some friends living in Padova, so our first choice would be Padova. We have been thinking about Verona and maybe Torino as well.

So, I'd like to know if there are any good ski resorts near to Padova or Verona? What are their names? Some years ago I was in Val Gardena, and it was pretty good.

Well, if you move to verona, you are on the road for the dolomites (val gardena, val badia and many many places to ride on).
If you move to Torino, you are very very close to Cervinia: connection with zermatt, ski-area from 2000m going up, one of the places where you can find snow for the whole year...

Well, it depends on what you look for in a city...
I've never been to verona, but they are all quiet cities (compared to others in italy like Rome, Naples, Milan, etc...).
Near Padova there is Venice (unique in the world)...
But every of them has its own "features".
Maybe some people from the north of italy may give you some info more...

Torino is bigger than Verona and Padova and it's more important in Italian history.
of course Torino has all the pros and the contro of the city with almost one milion people, and there it's product the gianduiotto.

It seems to me that Torino would be the best in that sense (next to Cervinia) and then Verona or Padona (next to the Dolomites). But which one you think is better, Cervinia or Dolomites?

Dolomites are wide, various and full of ski area.
Cervinia is that one (with zermatt, ok, but it's that one).
From turin you can reach other resorts too, but... in my opinion... dolomites are absolutely great.

Surely Dolomites...but Torino is nearerst to many other place than cervinia, like cesana torinese,claviere,sestriere,sauze d'oulx. So if you consider cervinia you can consider all best place of "valle d'aosta" region, like la thuile...that is the best for extreme carving! and finally cervinia is linked to zermat (3800mt.), so you can carve also in the summer.
Verona is a beautiful city...more and more than torino, that is a big traffic city, but if you look a place near the mountains and many place for carving i think torino is perfect!

Just one consideration...Torino is half an hour from the nearest resort...

..and definitely closer to ZINAL!

I live in Vicenza, it is situated between padova and verona. If I had to choose I would stay in Verona, more and quite and more comfortable city. But from Padova it is easier to reach Venice that, as RicHard also said, is unique in the world.

From Padova the first little ski areas on the "little dolomites" can be reached with more of an hour. For bigger resorts on the dolomites you may need two hours.
