Re: How do you do ice?

Thanks guys for tips :) I'll look to get a diamond file. Abrax, what you say about going smoothly makes sense. The one day that I spent on hard-pack and ice, I was the only snowboarder carving (at least not skidding) all the way down the slope. However, it took me until mid afternoon to get the righ...

How do you do ice?

As i'm learning and progressing with push-pull beginning to become second nature, I was wondering how you carve on hard-pack or ice? Example, what I've learned is that if I push into the snow a little I cut my speed a little, if I push harder, I dig deeper into the snow and I can cut a lot of speed....

Re: tips wanted to overcome toeside turn fear

Corviuscorvax, i'm comfortable carving uphill at end of heel side carve of I need to cut speed or I just carve across mountain on heel side ...i'm okay at getting onto toe edge but I know i'm not rotating early enough for toeside turn ( before end of heel edge carve)...as soon as i'm on my toe side ...

tips wanted to overcome toeside turn fear

I've come to realise that my toe side turns will not progress because for some reason I have developed a mental fear of falling backwards down the hill... It's all linked to the knowledge that I should twist my upper body towards the up hill as far as possible.....so I've now got a fearful vi...

Re: Four little videos

Matti, Luomu,, thanks again for slo mo video... My toeside turns are my weakness (in trying to do normal carves) but these slow videos help me see where weight balance is on the board..ie more on back when going to toeside...I have been trying this and it really does help my toeside.. discussion as ...

Re: Which boots?

Third time lucky, I think I have boots that fit, with some help from a very helpful virtual shopper, These are mp 24.5 but the liner is too small for me. However, my feet with thick socks, fit easily into the shell with a comfortable amount of room to spare. My foot measures just under 25cm, ...

Re: End of the season :( - broken finger

I almost had a broken nose last Saturday night. I got up about 2 am to simply turn of an appliance in the kitchen. Due to EC training of getting low before a turn, as I bent down (dropped down quickly) bending my knees and keeping my upper body upright :rules: , my nose met with the edge of my glass...

Re: Where is NOT the snow? ;-)

4 of the 5 ski centres in Scotland were shut all weekend due to high winds causing the snow to drift. So I thought I'd hoof-up and try some grass and rock snowboarding, on a lower but wind scoured hill. Next week is going to be epic in Scotland. I can't believe how lucky we have been, :clap2: 2013-0...

Re: Feedback on pics...sorry no video...

Aye, haven't forgot about trying to get a video. I would love to get some more feed back :) As much as i'm determined to improve, there are times i've felt like a right chump on the slopes. Me and my alpine set up sill trying to get to know each other. Alone on the snow amidst competent soft ...

Re: Feedback on pics...sorry no video...

I've been a bit down-in-the-dumps about my lack of progression. Then last weekend I done my first black run on hard boots. In fact this particular black run, I tried once on softies and was scared to go back, as I couldn't even do one turn and slid 20 feet each attempt. Last Sunday, I was linking a ...
