The plates are designed for a single purpose: be the fastest between the gates on icy ruts. Undoubtedly, plates serve this purpose well. Heh and how is this done? Plate disconnects Your boot/boot forces from the board and lets the board edge run more fluent on the snow, so this leads to better edge...

I was questioning myself why all the GS world champions use this gear...
What is Your opinion about plates?
Do they help, is there a need for a plate?
How much should it cost?

I know a guy that streched that he was able to dig under the snow, that low he could get during the turn! :-)

The more fit You are the less hurt You get... And the longer You stay carving on the slope :-)

To stay fit first You need to get fit... Try some step classes in the fitness club. It may be funny at the beginning, especially that there are usually just girls, but in my opinion there is no better exercise when it comes to time spent/ effectiveness. It's not about going to steeper slope, which is actually not recommended unless fully linked turn is done - just as You say :-) But don't let her ride on less steep one! This one is good, steep enough to make carved turns, wide enough to be comfortable with it's sides, but too much crowded ;) Anyway...

This is not a perfect riding, but when i change my stuff to hardboots i did much worse :-) Maybe You had different knowlegde while swaping to the hardboots.
