Hi T.R. have you seen the older UPZ in Sölden, which are really stiff, or the RC10? The RC10 is way softer and this years model still more. It was two years ago, so the previous version. Till now I don´t know any guy who don´t like his RC10 he bought. (Maybe someone wants to tell me?) Everybody see...

Arnaud seems to love UPZ and apparently a lot of Italians ride them too, but I don't know what model is good and what if any modifications you would need. When I saw them sold in shops in Soelden they seemed to be really stiff and the forward flex appeared to be as bad as Deeluxe with RAB, so I didn...

Could I choose again I would take 168 instead of 175. 175 is not bad at all but you won't be EC'ing all day long on your Swoard, 168 is better for anything else except powder. And I wouldn't take a non-powder board for serious powder riding anyway, nothing to gain only a beautiful board to ruin.

But I think unmodified Deeluxe boots are better! Stock Head boots have a severe forward flex limitation.

I would take intecs for more narrow and stiff boards, because with steep angles you need a more direct sideways response instead of flexibility, like Hot Blasts. Wider boards (> 20cm waist) I think suffer from it because you want to have some flexibility when making turns with more relaxed angles. A...

You can get a similar quality board with normal inserts for €50,- on eBay, why waste that much money on a special kit for a brand of boards you will not ever purchase again?

I've just practiced a bit on the floor here, putting my feet flat on the ground into a stance I usually ride, and I observe two things when I try the heelside rotation position: - If I keep my legs straight, I can not get my hips square to the board's direction at all - If I flex them a bit, I can g...

My vote goes also for practice. Here is short clip of my rotation practice from today, i've been trying to do practice it whole summer. http://pokkis.1g.fi/kuvat/Video/ec2.wmv Looks like a great drill, technique is almost the same only the turns are shorter and not so inclined. If I watch closely y...

A lot of high end boards are reserved weeks before, maybe you should call the rental places as soon as you've booked your trip to make sure you can test any board you would like to.

Technique: how to rotate hips into the turn

Lately I have had some succesful attempts at layed down turns, but I feel my technique still isn't quite what it should be . It feels like I am twisting my torso and shoulders into the turn but my hips still faces a neutral direction somewhere between my feet. Especially at heelside turns this...

But I'm not sure about any other alpine brand participating other than Virus. The shops in the village also have quite a lot alpine gear for rental and on sale.

I'm trying the backwards riding thing as well. I now can reliably reverse and do a few scraped turns, but no carved turns yet. First advice: don't try to look where you're going (yet), unless you want to reverse back. Keep looking where you're coming from. And wear a helmet, you're going to fall lik...
