Hey Patrice. Yes, Tahoe winter was great last year. Lots and lots and lots of unending snow. It was very nice in Colorado in February, too :) You know you want to come back! You remember this (image below) - it came from your camera! OK, Nils - I will get right to work on a CGI Opus 5 ;) Would you r...

Opus 5?
Hey, PJN. Do you guys have an Opus 5 in the works? I have watched Opus 3 (Stoked) and Opus 4 (Lifted) too many times in the last few weeks waiting for it to snow out here ;) Also, any chance of any of you coming out to the SES again this year (I guess not since your extremecarving session is on the ...

Hi - thanks for the replies - I guess I should clarify my question a bit. I know putting any structure on the base will reduce the board's performance on dry snow. But currently, say my performance on dry snow is 10, and my performance on wet snow is 1 (it is really terrible; it feels like I've got ...

Structure on base?
I read the "Instruction Manual" on the swoard.com page and it says that Electra4000 works best when smooth as possible, and it recommends not putting any structure on it at all. Unfortunately, here in California, sometimes the snow is so hot it turns into sticky slush and the very smooth surface tur...

Regarding the pain in your back foot and knee - is it possible you are counterrotating on your heelside? I also experienced quite a lot of twisting pain in my right knee when I first switched to hardboots 2 years ago, but I realized that it was because when I turned heelside, my upper body faced the...

Hmm - most snowboarders I know have the tbar line pass in front of their stomach and then put just one side of the T on their butt, and hold onto the other side of the T with the rear hand. Not so low that you are sitting on it, but right on the thickest part of the butt. In my experience putting th...

Sometimes I get this shape turn on heelsides as well. Usually the carved line, in addition to being squiggly/wiggly like in your drawing, is also fat and scalloped (it is no longer only 2 inches wide, but oscillates between 2 inches and a foot wide). For me, I can tell it happens because the front o...

If you are really strapped for cash, I would suggest getting hard boots first and then the carving board. In my opinion, putting hard boots on a good, stiff, freeride/all-mountain (as opposed to freestyle) board is much closer to the real experience than soft boots on an alpine board (which seems li...

You guys get smoother and more fluid every year. It's always an inspiration, fellas! Watching that makes me wish I was riding right now... The movie is awe-freakin-some. I still wish you would include a little itty bitty footage of you two riding with the push-pull style in powder :P I know 1) you r...

Re: Pre-load front side?
But about the "Egyptian" pose, it's not a position you should be in during your entire toeside turn , but at the end of the toeside turn in result of a progressive rotation of the upper body. If you do it well, it helps a lot (with the push-pull work in the legs) to initiate the full laid heelside ...

Re: Pre-load front side?
Last year when I met Patrice at SES, I learnt that pre-loading (doing the Egyptian) my shoulders was key for a successful heelside. How about the toeside? Is there such a thing as pre-loading for toeside? Peter :chinese: Hey, Peter! You doing the SES this year? I understand your question because he...

u forgot the height ! Since a guy on 161 is shorter that the one on 175, the feeling of the turn on both boards will be the same since he is shorter :) Lets wait for Jacques answer :) maybe tall guys are too slow for short quick boards :) Nah, I don't buy it :P Jacques is 186 cm, and I am 167 cm ta...

Re: swoards radii
Actually Jacques designed the board with the idea of perfect adequation of board / rider. He made the 175M and then from it designed the 168H for Patrice, and the rest of the quiver... The idea was that everyboard behaves the same... It means that the 161S has exactly the same behaviour as the 175H...
