Of those three I would choose the Titanflex, simply because of strength. I have X-bones and they are too flexible so I fear they will break.... I have broken a few softboot and hardboot bindings in the past, really really really want to avoid that again, it is SCARY. I will never again depend on a p...

for Istvan (and anyone else who is curious)
I rode with a 0 degree base and 90 edge for years, mostly because it never occured to me to try anything else. After talking with someone about base beveling I had a shop give my a 1 degree base an 89 edge angle, so the angle of the edge itself is still 90 degrees, but the corner is lifted just a ti...

I have only bought one board from them, it was a twin-tip freeride board, with a 23cm waist that works well with hard boots and 45/40 stance angles. The board they gave me is quite stiff (becaused that's what I asked for) and it carves very well. Both of my alpine boards are from Coiler but I suspec...

Have you considered a custom snowboard?
I am sure that any of the following will be glad to make a snowboard to your specifications: http://www.donek.com/ ($850 but very highly regarded) http://www.coiler.com/ ($550 (approx), but ~12 month waiting time) http://www.priorsnowboards.com/ ($650 (approx)) I bought a a Coiler snowboard a couple...

I have a pair of Coilers All-Mountain boards, both 174 long, one with 21cm waist and 13m sidecut, one with 17cm waist and 11.5 sidecut. The wider one I've had for a couple years, the skinny one is new, I just recieved it a couple weeks ago and have yet to ride it. Also should soon have a similar boa...

I assume it's because manufacturers assume that customers expect short boards to be turny and long boards to be more stable at speed. Most customers probably do expect that... primarily because most manufacturers build things that way. :) Things are built as if shorter people ride slower, but I don'...

LinkerError, for a few years I rode freestyle/freeride boards with 45/30 degree stance angles, and liked it. Then one year I got a board with a narrower waist - about 23cm instead of the usual 25cm - and it was a huge improvement. Bringing the board's edges right under my toes and heels gave me much...

First I have to admit I can't get my heelsides laid out like the Swoard guys - I can drag my hip, but my shoulders aren't down there yet. Toeside I can get as laid out as I want, but heelside I'm still working on... So take this with a bit of salt. Anyhow, I did my first hips-touching-snow turns (to...

Arm injuries
Yesterday I sprained my thumb during a toeside carve. I didn't think too much about it, just started paying more attention to my hand position... But I just read about Olaf tearing up his shoulder and now I'm thinking maybe arm injuries are a topic worth talking about. Have you injured your hand or ...

I've never been on one either, but here's specs, they should give you some more food for thought: http://www.bomberonline.com/store/boards/volkl_renntiger.cfm The 178 looks like it would be a lot of fun for XC stuff, given the 12.5m sidecut. The 173 will turn a bit tighter but if you're starting out...

"why can't alpine boards like the swoard be good off-piste... without changing boots" I don't know. Why not? I think they already are. The main thing that makes most alpine boards less suitable (not necessarily unsuitable) for off-piste is the height of the nose and tail, but there are 'all mountain...

I was riding Bombers when I switched. I do not think that there is significant edge-to-edge flex due to the small footprint of the bindings. There certainly isn't with the stiff bumpers I use, and I doubt there even would be with the soft bumpers. There is so little leverage to bend the board crossw...

That's kind of funny. The main reason I got into hard boots was all the pain my feet had when I was riding soft boots. I hated those things. With footbeds, TF liners, and some fitting foam, my boots are far more comfortable than any soft boots I ever had. Without all the extra work, they were about ...

I rode 45/30 angles on 25cm waists for years because I couldn't find a narrower board that had an upturned tail (I'm more into off-piste stuff than carving). When I had a custom board made with a 23cm waist, I rode the same angles, just with quite a bit less underhang, and the board felt like it wei...
