Re: Technical advices, please

I agree that backside is easier and feels more "locked in" when I'm not trying to lay down. I realized something on the lift ride last time I was on the mountain, but didn't get a chance to try it since I was on my way out: when I'm doing the "push" phase and extending my legs, on toeside I feel alm...

Re: Technical advices, please

eagerly awaiting the video analysis here - I feel like my heelsides/backsides look somewhat similar to these and I always like to see the experts chiming in! I can't seem to get my head down to my right arm (goofy) on backside. I feel like I'm still kind of sitting up in the turns.

Re: Swoard Extremecarver 168 M gen 3 - 390€

bigfred,

I sent you a message last week. I'm interested in buying this board. Will you ship to the United States?

Re: finally on board

I agree with all the advice given. I'm thinking at this point, you should just work on carving with your softies. I was sort of in a similar situation to you when I started: limited market, noone in my area really used hardboots, not sure where to start. If you can link C carves (and I mean fully on...

Re: finally on board

willy, So I understand you correctly - you want to use "soft" boots on the alpine boards? Sounds like you made a nice find, but to get the full potential out of the alpine boards you will want hardboots. I say "want" rather than "need" because, in my opinion, you can technically do very similar thin...

Re: tips wanted to overcome toeside turn fear

Have you seen the softboot EC tutorials on youtube? To go toeside, they crouch basically as low as they can while rotating. Maybe you could try just crouching and riding through the turn statically (i.e., no rotation, just ride it out). The biggest analogy that helped me understand when and how much...

Re: tips wanted to overcome toeside turn fear

ok, I think I understand. By definition, if you are continuing to look downhill as you progress through toeside, you are counter-rotating. I'm thinking that you don't need advice on snowboarding, but rather you need advice on fear management :P I think you already know that your technique is not cor...

Re: tips wanted to overcome toeside turn fear

When exactly does this fear hit you? What part of the turn? The initiation or at the end? For toeside, your chest should be facing downhill just after you have finished your heelside turn (kind of - I'm leaving out the rotation to get an idea of what you're talking about). When you start the toeside...

Now that I'm home:

Re: One little victory.... Critique needed on backside techn

vizsyn, I totally didn't realize you are on the east coast. I am in NJ, and head up north when I go riding. I have a friend....both of us are trying to figure out this EC thing. I think I am VERY close (almost to the point where it might be equipment holding me back to some degree), but I have a lot...

Re: Acceptable boards

I use a stiff board because i wanted to try a metal board and got a good deal on it. Otherwise, because of my weight its hard to find suitable used boards. Either way, it's not working that well for ec  Looks like i am going to grab a new swoard. If i could find a used 168m it might work, but ...

Acceptable boards

Finances are tight at the moment, and I'm looking to get a dedicated EC board now or during the summer for next year. I currently ride a Donek FC Metal 171, with a variable sidecut of 11 up front, 13 on the tail. The board has a 20cm waist. First, I cannot get my angles as low as I would like on the...

Re: So lonely on the US east coast...

Rob, thanks for the advice. I think a Swoard is in my near future...I can handle the tight trails ok if I am making very light turns, and when I have even moderate speed I feel comfortable enough to turn a board over. With the angles I'm running now, I think I may be experiencing boot out on my heel...

Re: So lonely on the US east coast...

Thank you all for the responses. I got a few PM's from members as well - very nice community here. I am riding in Pennsylvania/ Pocono Mtns area. Really nothing special. Most of the time people just stare at me awkwardly when I ride the hardboot setup haha. Re: the RC10's, is riding in wal...
